Eriks
Hi, I've purchased a 280zx for parts to my 510 Wagon. I'm taking the rims, front stuts and gearbox. Is there any other 280ZX parts that can be used on a 510 or a 610 ? Appreciate all advice, thanks. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Hopefully NOT a zx TURBO '82-'83 rear disc brakes are nice to have one day when you might decide to have rear disc brakes. The '79-'81 15/16" master cylinder may be needed later when the struts and brakes are swapped and will bolt to your 610. The '81-'83 is different. The rear end is an R-180. Gearing isn't great but it is stronger and could be fitted to a 610 with some work.Starter. slightly larger and longer but they fit the four cylinder just fine. Lots of turning power.Alternator (610 will need small mod to allow this internally regulated alternator to work, but gets rid of the fender mounted regulator)Steering wheel. I like the looks and horn button locations on the ZX wheel. It's slightly smaller diameter so slightly 'faster' steering and the rim is thicker and soft padded for better grip and less tired fingers. The 610 wheel is like trying to hold onto coat hanger wire. Floor mount emergency brake. Will fit between bucket seats if there is no console. This is not a drop in mod. Six cylinder matchbox EI distributor and coil. (non turbo zx) Needs only the 4 cylinder stator/reluctor set and a cap to work on a 4 cylinder engine. Parts about $35 at Nissan. As is, a great upgrade for earlier 240/260280z cars. 280zx flywheel is lighter than your 610 by about 8 pounds. But requires a 225mm clutch (an upgrade in itself) be sure to keep the release bearing housing as it is matched to the clutch size. If not changing your 610 clutch, keep and use the 610 release bearing collar with the zx 5 speed. ZX front seats depend on the style but pretty much anything beats the 610/710 front seats. Some of these things won't meet with your approval BUT they are good for trading and keep in mind that once these parts are thrown away, they are gone forever. 1 Quote Link to comment
