Mr510
Like the title says I need some help getting my 510 started its got a freshly built ka24de out of a 95 240 and everything is wired up correctly to the best of my knowledge. It has fuel pressure and spark. If anyone could come give me a hand that knows these motors it would be greatly appreciated!!! There's some beer in it too for whoever wants to give me a hand. sal
Did you remove the distributor or the oil pump? Quote Link to comment
Mr510
It's a brand new oem oil pump and I've only tryed cranking it with the distributor in. Quote Link to comment
Mr510
it is cranking extremely slow. So I took out the starter and battery and had them both tested and they both passed. I'm not sure what else it could be at this point Quote Link to comment
Datsun/Nissan finatic
start by checking you timing since you no there is fuel and spark. find top dead center then pull dist cap and make sure the rotor is on plug wire number 1. your spark plug wires could also be incorrect find out firing order then go from there Quote Link to comment
Mr510
I'm thinking it's something else cause of how slow it cranks, and figured out that the crank doesn't want to rotate by hand only with a wrench, and that's with no spark plugs and no distributor. Quote Link to comment
Mr510
I'm thinking the machine shop screwed up on the main bearings, because it feel like there's compression when rotating it and no plugs Quote Link to comment
Nuclear Water Boy
Well if it is truly a fresh rebuild it will have rolling resistance from all the new parts. But it's sounding like maybe to much resistance. Did you ck to make sure your fuel lines are correctly orientated on the fuel rail and not Feed on the out and out on the Feed? May be you should drop the oil pan and a rod cap and main bearing cap and run some planti-gage testing. Could simply be incorrect sized bearing on one or the other and hopefully not both. Draker
Did the machine shop assemble the engine? Part of rebuilding and engine is checking bearing clearance pre and post new bearings. Also.. there is a torque spec for rotation of the lower end components. Sounds like two steps were missed... imagine what else was skipped over. Quote Link to comment
