So, after a few text messages in reply to a Seattle Craigslist add and a few emailed pics, I took a Datsun leap of faith and caught a ride to Seattle with a friend looking to buy a 1979 620kc. I took a short test drive, negotiated a little on the asking price and, in less than an hour after arriving, buy cab, at the truck for sale, I was headed East over Snoqualmie Pass in a thirty five year old Datsun 620 that I really knew nothing about. It was already dark when I started my trip and I rolled in to Cle Elum around 9:00 pm and grabbed a motel room for the night. The next morning I was up early. I was feeling more confident in my new purchase and was excited to get the truck to it's new home near Spokane.

A stop along the way that morning in Vantage to take a few pics

One of the first item of business after getting home was to get a set of OEM rallies, that I had previously purchased on Craigslist, in the kc where they belonged. And so starts the old skool look of the exterior complete with a new set of 225/60/14 BF Goodrich TA's

However the previous owner had made the interior anything but old school. Start with a pair of functioning heated leather bucket seats with lumbar support

Add a Pioneer MixTrax bluethooth stereo with a pair of 6x9's and a Pioneer glass sub filling the kc and a pair of 5 1/2 Alpines neatly tucked in the one-off door panels and top it off with a pair of Alpine tweets hidden in the custom kicks. Needless to sat the sound system KICKS ASS.

Other new skool features include; power door locks, push button start and alarm system.

The 620 also came with some upgraded features from the factory in 1979 including a tachometer

And under the hood lies a fully charged and functional air conditioning system attached to the stock L20B

A few other detail items have been taken care of over the past couple of weeks including removing the rear bumper

And refurbishing the Datsun emblems

thats a nice truck. with heated seats and a killer stereo it must have a much higher output alternator than stock. Do you know what it has? i'd like to find one

That thought has been on my mind since I headed out into the night when I purchased the truck. I haven't done any investigation into the alternator that is on the truck, but when I do, I will let you know what I find out.

I thought I was losing it there for a minute , I was just reading your other thread " no trailer required " and then I switched over here and stated reading , and thought this story sounds familiar . And then I saw your pictures again . At least I'm not crazy .

I like the blend of the new and old , bummer it has a sunroof . Cool truck man !
