Lozer
So im driving along to work after sticking a radio in my dime and i smell burning wire. Well i did not get off in time and i lost the green blue wire (see melted). I fixed the wire and now i only have low beams and blinkers. Been playing with the wiring for 2 days and im wondering if anyone has some input on what could be fragged. It has an after market relay for the headlights but uses the stock wire. datzenmike
Bet your parking lights are out. On the stock 510 headlamp relay you MUST have parking lights working or the high beams won't. There's little excuse for a burnt wire. Everything should be powered through a fuse. Quote Link to comment
Lozer
thats the thing man it was stock run right to the fuse box with the 10 amp fuse. Your right i only have low beam headlights and blinkers everything else is dead and im going nuts trying to figure it out. so how does one repair the parking lights? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
doesnt the parking lights use a different fuse? reseat the connector at fuse box also. parking lights use a swichable power. Unlike the headlamps which is a switchable ground. find the parking lamp circut put the switch to On I uess and trace back using a test lamp till you loose the 12volts. Quote Link to comment
Lozer
Ok so i got headlights running lights ect.. the fuse (stock 10 amp gets hella hot and blows) Are there any grounding points other then the firewall, fender???? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Get a second opinion but I say the parking light fuse is 20 amps. Also sandpaper the clips that hold the fuse. If there is any corrosion there will be resistance and this will cause it to begin to heat up. When it gets hot enough the temper comes out of those clips and it doesn't grip the fuse tightly and... it just gets worse. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
"When it gets hot enough the" end caps sometime unsolder themselves from the fuse element too. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
20 amp fuse might have been easier. Quote Link to comment
