xsdg
Having a few years of autox and some wheel-to-wheel racing under my belt, I drive my 720 pretty hard. Sometimes, a little too hard. A few months ago, I did some threshold braking and the oil pressure light came on. Whoops. And then last night, I took a tight 270-degree right-hand onramp at a decent clip and the oil light came on again. I'm pretty sure this means that the oil is sloshing around in the pan and the oil pickup stops being submerged for a period of time. The truck is at stock ride height with standard truck rubber (195/75R15 or thereabouts), so it's got a decent bit of body roll. So, my first thought is to put some baffles in the oil pan. My pan is magnetic, which means that I should be able to weld it (or, likely, a spare that I pull from the JY). I'm just wondering if anyone's been down this road before and has any suggestions. I'm probably going to try to follow this for starters: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/ccrp_9901_diy_oil_pan_baffle/ Quote Link to comment
Rjawm
I have to ask the easy question, did you check the oil level? I know when mine got down even a little bit it would allow the light to flash on and off during hard cornering. 1 Quote Link to comment
xsdg
Good point. I know I checked it after the first time. I haven't checked it recently, though. Will take a look tomorrow. Quote Link to comment
xsdg
Rjawm wins for now. Oil was low. Will add another note if I see this happening again, but for now, we can call it mystery solved. Quote Link to comment
