Danny
Ok hear it goes. I had a friend (Dave Hamada) and both of his sisters (Lisa and Jodie Hamada) pass away in less then two years from Alzheimer's. When I found out that they had such a horrible disease I wanted to build a Tribute truck like the one I used to help him work on and then bought from him. I also had another friend (Darin Motoda) that passed away from what we believe to have been a brain hemorrhage and wanted to add him to this Tribute. I still have that same truck to this day 33 years later. So I went on a mission to find a 620 KC with A/C that was in decent condition and that took some time and then I found one in Flagstaff AZ. So hear is the start. I got it home and it ran ok but I knew what had to be done. 1 Quote Link to comment
Danny
It was time to take it down to the frame and have everything taken down to bare metal. Then it went to paint. When it was in paint I went to work Building the motor. It ended up at a 2.3L 1 Quote Link to comment

Danny
I sent the head and intake in to get extrude honed. I am using a electric water pump. After it was all done I wanted to Dino it but no one in Las Vegas would do it. I called and tlaked to Peter Brock from BRE and with his help we found a shop in San Diego tha will Dino it so I shipped it to them. After a few runs and breaking it in it made 148.7HP not to bad for a garage build. 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
That would be brake hp? About 122 RWHP? Not too shabby! At what RPMs??? Quote Link to comment
Danny
Hear is the Dino sheet Datzenmike. Quote Link to comment
Danny
Then it was time to start putting it back together. Made new break and clutch lines (stainless) In order to run air filters I needed to get rid of the master break cylinder and booster and go to a electronic bower booster and an offset reservoir. Of course living in Las Vegas one must have A/C or die in the summer. 2 Quote Link to comment
Danny
I wanted a Posi rear end but was having a hard time finding one so I found a E-Locker from a Xterra 4X4 and then had it narrowed 14" and changed the bolt pattern to 6 on 5 1/2 from 6 on 4 1/2. I also went to a 3 link and bags all the way around. I also had Beebani make me front lower arms that were 1" shorter I made some shock mounts on them and adjustable upper arms. Had to make a shock tower on the frame. I had to have my Enkei EK32 refurbished. I even had to get two of then filled and drilled as they were a 5 lug. The power coater took 6 months and then didn't do the rivet bolt so I had to send them to get nickel plated. So I will not tell the power coaters name as I don't want to give him any more business. 2 Quote Link to comment

Danny
I got some of the interior done. I also had a set of buckets done so I can swap between. I am still looking for a Dome Light so if anyone has or knows of one let me know. Of course had to put Dina-Mat down everywhere. I had a new Glovebox made. 2 Quote Link to comment

olderdat620
My 78 KC it was red when I got it in 80 but after - 4rth Try - that is what I named it and I still have it, it has never looked as good as yours---Yours looks super nice  Quote Link to comment
Danny
Thanks, izzo and olderdat620 I found this GT-Spoiler shell in San Francisco and had it shipped to me. When I got it I found that it was 4" short so I found someone who works wonders with fiberglass and had him remove and fill in all of the windows and extend it and make it tilt with the cab of the truck. 1 Quote Link to comment
