I've always thought it would be kind of cool to build a street rod with a Z powertrain, so if she's too far gone to save...

But  on the other hand I'm told I'm kind of a weirdo like that.  B)

on that note, there was a licensed and drivable 27 t-bucket in Kansas City with an L24 a while back, i called on it just because it sounded interesting and was priced cheap, he said he sold it for $3000, so you're not alone Chuck.

I think it would be cool, just because it would piss off the traditionalists. That and I hate small block Chevy engines with a passion, and that's the engine you are most likely to see in a street rod anymore.

Ok gang so I ran into my first problem. Tried to get the vin verified today but the vin plate on the dash is a different number than the other plates. The plate on the door jamb, the plate in the engine bay and the firewall stamp all match. And the kicker is that it's registered with the dash vin. How does that happen?

Still working on the vin verification. But in the meantime the GF bought this for the library.

We will by no means try to restore this ol' girl. Just getting it stopping and running will be a thrill.

More cancer. But I think will replace this door anyway cause I don't think its a 240z door.

Driver door. This one looks better.

Was under all this

These patch panels were riveted on, so I had to drill all the rivets off. Broke 2 bits but I got the one section done at least. There's more patches under the car but I'll save those for another time.

Went down to SoCal this weekend for the Historic j car show and Eagle rock. Found some goodies at eagle rock. Nothing super exciting but couldn't beat the prices.

Tinkered around yesterday. Need to get the brakes working, so I took the drums off to get them turned.

Then I noticed a section of bondo splitting by the rear side marker so I started picking at it. And uncovered this little nugget.

Then kept going and uncovered all this.

I guess who ever fixed this last thought bondo was the right way to go.

This poor z is the gift that keeps on giving. Lol. All I can do is laugh about it. Not discouraged yet. I actually feel more motivated to get her right. Like I said, this won't be a show car, but will be fun as hell to drive...eventually.
