Hello Everybody,

I was introduced to this site by my brother, he owns a 1973 510 and has been on here some time now. I've always known that I wanted to some day own a Z but never did because they were too expensive for me at the time. I spent a couple of years in the Honda drag race scene before the Fast and Furious movies came out in 2001, and stayed in it up to the end of the import drag race scene. Afterwards I decided I wanted a turbo import and bought a 1999 Mitsu Eclipse GST, which let me tell you that thing was a complete waste of money, time, blood and frustration for 8 damn years!!! The Mitsucrappy sat in the garage while I played around with a 2008 Mazdaspeed3, that was the love of my life for the 4 years I owned it. As much as I loved it, I made the decision to let go of it for a more relaxed form of transportation, I was right foot heavy and the Speed3 loved to go, I don't think i need to say more...

Anyway I digress, last year in November I finally made the jump and bought a Z, a 1972 240Z from a gentleman who owned it for 15+ years in San Diego. The car was in fairly good shape except for a few things of concern, which my bro and I decided to address almost as soon as we got it back to his house in LA some 130 miles from where we picked up the car.The air damn was in poor shape, the tail light bezel was not installed, it had 2 fuel pumps, a manual and an electric, and some wiring issues. The hunt began to find ways to make it MY Z, the air dam was fixed some, the rims painted black, the headlights changed, bezel was painted black and installed, the  rear bumper was removed, the ugly exhaust tip removed, the manual fuel pump came off. The car ran ok but had issues with loss of power which we later found out was due to a rusted fuel tank. Well now we got into cutting up the trunk to fit in a race fuel cell. Well that fixed 1 problem but another arose, it was not misfiring bad in 3rd gear on. My bro who is WAAAY more knowledgeable about cars than i began to mess with the carbs, but sadly we just could not get it to run right. The decision was made and now we were in search of tripple carbs! We were able to find a decent set of Mikunis and a Skyline intake manifold, which is where we are now with the build on the car along with a big brake upgrade for the front and rear disc conversion, repainting the engine bay,and redoing the rusted brake lines.

I was trying to post pictures but since I'm such a newbie I can't figure it out :/ I don't see any link on here to upload pictures, just to link to a URL. Can somebody please shed some light on my dilemma?

Thanks for reading.

Some things were missed, as he said racing fuel cell was added along with holly fuel pump, holley high flow fuel filter, holley regulator and all new fuel lines with pressure set at a steady 3.5lbs. So no secondary is needed, and SU carbs it came with were not in the greatest of shape so tuning was near to impossible. And yes adding a third is better than two for many reasons, but for this car tuning for road race use is the main reason. But as my two comrades before said. WELCOME TO RATSUN.
