Hey everyone,

So I recently bought a 76 b210 and I want to lower it. I heard that z car coils would work, and im already planning to have the leaf springs in the rear decambered. So what I want cleared up is if the z coils actually work, and what other datsun coils and shocks would fit on a b210. Any help? I dont want to cut any coils.

What you're saying is Zcar rear springs on your front struts and de-arching your rear leaf springs?

The Z car rear springs may work but the spring rate is unknown. Last thing you want it too stiff in the front. Plus you have to find and buy some. I would look at trimming your B-210 springs. There are formulas fro working out your spring rate before cutting. Never cut blindly.. once cut you can't put it back. This will shorten and increase the spring rate. Trim the lower spring perch off the strut,  grind down the weld and support the perch and trimmed spring with split collars. For about $30 you can have an adjustable height front end. All you need is an angle grinder, no welding. It's all in my '76 710 project.

For the rear I would suggest finding and adding another leaf to increase the spring rate to balance the back to the front and using lowering blocks. This also will resist the car bottoming out because it is lower.

I have a 120Y, but it should be the same as your B-210.

Rear: I used lowering blocks only and have (but not yet installed) some KYB Excel-G to improve cornering. I'm too old for the bouncy gas shock ride, so no Gas-A-Just for me. I've also read that messing with the leafs is a crap shoot: harder ride, lack of control of drop amount, creeks and groans, blah blah blah. Note: the leafs are 2" wide and you'll have to search for 2" wide blocks. They tend to start at 2 1/2" wide (not tall, wide). I can try to find the source among my receipts if you're interested, PM me. You will also have to buy custom U-bolts, so get those measurements right. They'll add $30 or more to the job. You can find a source online.

Front: I used King Racing Coils from Australia. They only lowered the car about 1.6", so I had to actually cut and regrind the lowering blocks 5/8" in the rear to get the stance I wanted. However, the coils are great. They are progressive. Nice riding when you're cruising, and they tighten up when you are hitting the twisties. Expensive, but I am pleased with them.

Now, the overall lowering was only about 1.6", as I said. That may not be low enough for you. If I were to lower more, I'd buy taller lowering blocks and do the spring perch mod datzenmike pointed you to. While I was at it, I'd also change out all my bushings.
