That's all?  Dang Mike, we need to light a fire under your ass!

I'm totally guessing I never looked and didn'r regularily drive it fast. My '74 L18 auto 710 up a slight grade just over 90. Do not tell me autos are slower than standards. About '95 in my '76 710 goon. Maybe 70 in my 620.

Other cars....

155 in my '70 Dart or 6,250 RPMs in 4th

Above that in an '09 Corvette*

Way above the Corvette in a '13 Shelby GT 500 Super Snake equipped Mustang*

* the Corvette was set to KPH and read 200 topped out. Hell I hit that on the on ramp alone and went through three more gears after that. When the owner thought to switch to Mph I had already slowed back down enough to read and comment on it. Fifth @ 6k is about 150 acording to on line specs. Held it in 6th for less than 10 seconds. Scary.

* the Shelby was beyond mach one. I was too scared to take my eyes off the road. It was down just below 130 when I did look. Maybe 170? surely above 160. Cracking the whip on 850 horses? who cares

My brother and I made it from Walnut Creek to Sears Point one Sunday morning in 28 minutes. It's just over 40 miles and there are two towns and a toll bridge to get through. I was driving a Porsche 911 and he was in a Corvette. We both hit about 150 at one point.

680, Martinez Bridge, 780, 80, 37, 121. Yah, I been there. You have a distorted sense of "fast" sitting on a lounge chair with the windows rolled up and the AC on. Do 160 mph on a motorcycle and you feel every damn bit of it. Visited that many times on my GSXR 1100 Highway 94 East of San Diego. Back to 510s

Well being on a bike is distorted too. 30 on a bike feels faster than 50 in a car.

The 510 is a brick with wheels.  Mine was about 8 years old at the time.. it rattled and shook and you sure knew you were gong 70.

I was going to go fast in my 510 once, but missed the shift between 1st and 2nd. Over reved my L20 and it displaced so much air, the fan bent forward and shaved 1/2" OFF MY NICE NEW RADIATOR.

With my old suspension setup which was shortened struts and lowering springs....and was really low....I did about 110-120, back starts to try an pass the front so the whole car kind shimmys.

With my new setup I've hit a solid 120 and its more stable but not nearly as stable as I would like it to be at that kind of speed....oh and ka24de powered.

I yeald to the wisdom of Q on this one.

Fuck!!!!!!!! I guess QTip was right...

The half shafts in the rear vibrate the car to death. The GT cars we used to run had CV's in the rear and they were really smooth.

115 - 120 and it doesn't take too long to get there either. Speedo needle past the high-beam indicator.

Datsun speedo's tell lies all day. The faster you go, the farther out they read.

Using GPS, I had my A15 (supercharged) powered 1200 sedan up to 201kph. We were four up, and all four windows were wound all the way down. (It was a hot day)

That was pulling 6000 in 5th gear too. There was a little bit left, but I wasn't game to risk burning a hole in a piston. (again)

My 510 will be plenty faster when it's built.

A mate did 242kph on (gps)in his ca18det 510. Hitting the rev limiter (7200) in fifth gear. I'm glad I wasn't in the car with him that day.................

I did 158 mph on my gsxr750 many moons ago
My FJ20 521 I did 115 mph going down the 91 with a lot more in it.
I have taken my SS trailblazer 148 down the 110 back home one morning runs out of rpm though.

I've been in the Bay Area for 25 years, SF 15 and East bay for 10. I' may have heard these names mentioned, but I have no context or face to connect with them. I know the band Junkyard Todd old post punk group?

Building my latest 510, I worked with Ermish and Rebello to have the fine tuning done on suspension (Troy) and (Rebello) motor. Checked out your website though. How did you get infected with 510'itus? Are you still doing fab work?

I worked for Rebello for almost a decade. I got the bug when I was a kid, then we started racing in the late 80's. I got my job working for Rebellos while pit crewing for the SCCA runoffs at Road Atlanta in Georgia. Dave taught me a lot and I still use them to do my ECU tuning. I moved to the foothills about 7 years ago and I have been building rock crawlers and fast cars ever since.

Troy's a good guy too. I raced ITC with him. Those were the days...
