Slayer1
New to the Ratsun forums! My name is Bill and I've been following Ratsun on Facebook for a couple of weeks now. Since my discovery of the group I've been able to do a couple of things to my 720. I figured it was time to join the forums and keep track of the progress. Right before discovering Ratsun I was parting out with my 720, but something kept me from selling it (besides the amount of cash offered to me). Ratsun was the ultimate reason why I decided to keep my 720. Now I have all these ideas that I want to execute, I know it will be a great build since I have the support of a great.community: RATSUN. 2 Quote Link to comment

Congrats on the maturity it took to make that move. Now.... Time to post some pictures of your 720. What year? what are your plans for it? 2 Quote Link to comment

Slayer1
So far I've lowered it 3" all around. Planning on going 4" in total by using spindles in the front and lowering springs in the rear. Looking for some shocks to replace the stock ones, my ride is pretty bumpy at the moment, would want the new shocks installed before dropping it any further. I've never done any body work! But I am attempting to remove all the dents, or at least get it as close as possible to thr original shape, by using a hammer and dollies. The hood and right side front fender have been done so far. Slayer1
I've cleaned up the inside of the truck and laid down some primer. Restoring the dash, and relocating the ignition and light switch. Not sure what kind of material I will be using to cover up the dashboard. Thinking about applying a small layer of foam before the top material. Quote Link to comment
Slayer1
Stock engine. I haven't done anything to the engine bay since I've had the truck. Looking foward to dressing it up! New carb, rebuild, etc. 1 Quote Link to comment

720inOlyWa
Really nice work! what kind of foam / technique are you using to fix the dash cracks? And is that what all the 620 guys, etc., do? (My 620 had dash cracks by 1982.) 1 Quote Link to comment
Slayer1
I used Great Stuff to fill in the cracks and wholes that I want to cover up. Ill be using filler to hit any spots that were left untouched or still uneven. Sand it down to an even surface, then use foam to create a new layer. Its my first time doing this. Ill keep updating my progress. Quote Link to comment
Slayer1
Didn't get much done on the truck yesterday, but I did manage to spray my lights. Looking like Gold! I like the new look, mo matter how small of a change. 1 Quote Link to comment
that-son
do you have an after pic of the dash? 2 Quote Link to comment
720inOlyWa
Yeah, what that-son said. I don’t have a dash problem myself, but i have been wondering what all the 620 guys do, since their dashes crack up fairly easily. I saw your repair started and was fascinated. I’d love to see how it turned out. 1 Quote Link to comment
midtown720
What did you use for the yellow tint on the headlights? I'd like to do something like this. 1 Quote Link to comment
Slayer1
I started focusing on other parts of the truck and lost a little attention towards the dashboard. The last thing I did was use Bando filler to level out the cracks or imperfections that I couldn't fix with the foam. Ill be jumping back at it pretty soon! I'm actually looking foward to relocating my ignition and light switch onto the dashboard. Quote Link to comment
Slayer1
As for the yellow tint, I used the glass stainer from Krylon. I cleaned the surfaces with some solvent to get them ready for the paint, then I applied 3 coats of yellow tint and 3 of clear coat. I was really happy with the turn out. Quote Link to comment
