Best way to remove a drum?

So today I've been working on the rear brakes, driver side all buttoned up and I switched to the passenger side and this is were things got a little frustrating..... got all the springs and retainers out, put the new shoes in place and mounted the new hardware. Put the drum back on and it was dragging pretty bad, went to mess with the adjuster and it was locked solid! I pulled everything apart, got the adjuster out and broke it free and got it all cleaned up and ready to re-install, tossed the drum back on to only realize I left the anti-rattle and bottom return spring off. For some reason the hub is stuck to the shoes now and I battled till it became too dark to see since I don't have my flood lamps at home so I will have to wait till day light.

 

Any advise on removing the drum? I don't want to start beating on the drum and brake the shoes but that sumnabitch is on pretty solid!

 

P.S, my rear drums don't have the M8-1.25 holes to toss some bolts in, only the fronts do :crying:

drill them up so you can do this later.

 

 

My dad had one of those weed torches, I heated it up then bang it loose.

Then after doing the brakes I put anti seize on the flat mating surface so it wouldnt stick again

Loosen the e brake adjuster?

 

If forced off the anti rattle spring pin will pull through but can be replaced. Looks like a nail with an arrow head on the end

I had a problem like this once before rear disks. I used a block of wood and a singlejack on the back side of the drum and beat it off DOH!!! Then found no reason for the drum to get stuck as it did. Chalked it up to cheap parts and filed the nubs that sit on the adjuster and the wheel cylinder to get the brake pads inward closer to the center until the drum could easily be put on and removed.

Spent a solid hour today trying just about everything, after a few knuckle scrapes I had enough and grabbed the BFH, gave it a couple solid whacks and it popped off. I also filed down the nubs a little used some anti seize around and now it slides on and off a lot better. During this process I think I have encountered a totally different issues that will require it's own thread.
