I like this thread!

It baffles me how that plane can haul the shuttle, planes are just stick frames with skins, seems like that shuttle would crush that plane.

Looks like they have added some structure to support it. The nice thing about circles is they are really strong, the added structure here probably helps distribute the load doen the sides. Planes are extremely strong for being mostly nothing. :)

Wonder how much lift the shuttle provides during flight. Extra vertical stabilizers on the tail too

dude the amount of engineering that goes into the framework on these airplanes is uber. Nothing is left to chance on them. I know this from experience and seeing what they can fix without replacing

In my opion, the best engineered [begging the question of longevity] was the WW1 German Albacross fighter.  It was a true Monocoque as opposed the the "modern" semi-monocoque structure and was built from wood main structure and carefully fitted plywood skins,  I saw an original unit being rebuilt and restored at Rheinbeck air field museum in upstate New York many years ago.  I really hope they finished it and didn't have a "Ratsun" oh crap, I'm out of time and money issue.  The WW2 English Mosquito was a similar engineering design, but due to the English weather almost all of them have gone to termite heaven.

By the way, the Rheinbeck WW1 A, V. Roe [ the original spelling before they changed in to "AVRO" ] front capsule bomber starred in their air show and was a gas!  Sacks of flour make a great splash when they hit ground.

I.... I don't know how I feel about this.....

Like, I'm upset by human nature sexualizing everything but at the same time I'm shocked and somewhat dismayed. Although at the same time that is a decent ass

Of course its a nice ass, who the hell would draw a bad one?

I also vote sr-71 for best engineered aircraft, simply amazing.
