Twinpilot001
Just replaced the starter on my 82 720 4 x4.-correct starter for this truck =locates the solenoid very near engine block!! One i removed & replaced=had solenoid further away from block- that allowed better access for installing any wiring on the starter!! One removed i find =was from a 1980 510 automatic car!! same starter mounts & better in my opinion for working on it!! Just a Thought!! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Perhaps it's miss identified. All L series starters are for a block that leans over to the passenger side. When installed on a Z series engine (that leans to the driver's side) it leaves a huge clearance between the solenoid and the Z bock. A Z series starter can fit an L block but the dip stick tube needs to be dented for clearance... then the solid dip stick won't fit in and has to be replaced... ask me how I know. Quote Link to comment
