How to save a worn throttle plate on a DCH30

I had some wear in my primary throttle plate on my 78 b210. DCH306.I fixed it by wrapping the shaft on the linkage side with .0015 feeler gage shim. It stayed in place and worked. The idle smoothed out. Before I fixed it I put an 8mm precision ruby sphere into the throttle shaft holes to check the size. It went through but stopped before entering the throttle chamber on both sides. There must be some deposition there close to the throttle plate. I left it thinking it was helping to reduce the leakage.
