I am looking for a J13 clutch in Oz, can't particularly find one. I stumbles across this on a ebay sellers page

Looks like the L20 will fit. anyone had any experience?  ok when i post the spreadsheet it goes weird. but all the above models have a 200mm 24 spline clutch and it says they are all interchangeable.

The J13 uses a spring clutch with 9 coil springs in it. Almost all others are diaphragm clutches. A later 200mm PP and disc might fit. The release bearing and collar seem to be the same as the Roadster. Weather these will fit the J13 flywheel bolt pattern is unknown.

Clutch discs and sets with 1"dia. X 24 spline input shaft are to be had on Ebay. I'm looking for a set for 7/8" dia. X 20 spline input shaft clutch stuvv. It's looking more & more like what I need is for floor-shift top-loading 4-speed transmission up to September 1965. Used in 320, 410, & 520. Anyone with information on these early top-load tranys; I'd sure appreciate a PM. I'll be running a formal wtb-classified for all the clutch related stuff including flywheel to sew my 4-speed to the E1 engine when I get all the info assembled.

May want to go with a later J13 4 speed. The early floor shift ones are a non syncro 1st. I had some pics when I had the engine/trans out but can't find them. Lots of MG stuff works on the E1/J13 so may want to look into that. You could probably even find a place that can rebuild your disc and pressure plate.

datsunrides,

If your reply is to me, the later sheetmetal bottom pan J13 four-speed trany won't go in the 320 pickup without modifications to the frame and cab floor that I won't do to the little critter. Still have to do a lot of researching and rooting around for the parts I need.

That figures. :sneaky: Just sux that you basically need to come to a complete stop to get it into 1st with the smooth case. Oh well, 1st gear with the 4.89's is almost worthless unless you are hauling some weight.

Life is a bit slower around here than a lot of places. Stop signs mean stop; sorta; sometimes. This is not the only half-a-century-old vehicle that I have with non-syncro low. Some opportunities to work on the double-clutching from time to time when in a hurry and in one of the old timers. The 4.89 will probably end up on the shelf and be replaced with a 4.11 or 3.89 or whatever the exact ratios are. This pickup will never haul a load or take a long trip while it lives with me. It's more of a personalized time machine.

The little woman's 'modern' mid-size SUV is for trips and the 620 is for lighter hauling. Trailer behind the 620 is for the crappy stuff. I respect these old timer cars for surviving as long as they have and also the people who have kept them going prior to my ownership. This neat old stuff is pretty uncommon in this part of the country.
