kf5qzs
I've lurked here for over 2 years now, with envious eyes as to the amazing rides that have graced this forum. The amazing technical information you guys have discussed have helped me get my own ride on the road and in top order. Now, I no longer feel like I should hide in the shadows. It's time to come forward with my baby, and unveil her to the world.ALOT of people on this forum, unknowingly has helped me get my ride to where it is. I wanted to say THANK YOU, all of you, from the bottom of my heart. You might not know it, but your chatter back and forth about your trucks, your experiences, what you have done to your own ride helps countless other people who just lurk in the background. I was one of them - until today. I thought it was finally time to come out of the closet, because I'm proud of what we have created!I will post the photos of her in chronological order, with the latest being the last photos.Enjoy ;-) This photo is of the day I first got it running. I drove it up to the nearby store. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Welcome :) Looks like a very late import, the 83 model year(actually that year they started carrying the Nissan badge) came with big bumpers and different front sheet metal, so you have one of the quirks of the title system back then. 1 Quote Link to comment
kf5qzs
We started with a truck that's been sitting under an oak tree for a while .Freind sold it to me. It's sat up for the past decade. Put a new battery in it, poured gas in the carb and it came to life.4x4 - I knew this thing was destined for greatness. I seen the potential. We began stripping the paint off of the vehicle with a sander and grinders. Quote Link to comment
kf5qzs
The mold inside was pretty bad. There was a rust hole on the roof where it leaked into it at, and the vinyl took a lot of scrubbing to get the mold off of it.Bleach in a spray bottle and a TON of elbow grease. Quote Link to comment
kf5qzs
Used sheet metal and rivets to get the severe rust spots patched over. Also used metal tape. Quote Link to comment
kf5qzs
But the finished product took my breath away - I highly recommend using Herculiner on your vehicle. It adds a level of character to a vehicle that is amazing. Quote Link to comment
kf5qzs
I now finally feel like I can be a part of this group. Any ideas where I could get a used roll bar for this baby at ? I'm in Texas. Quote Link to comment
wayno
I would just find something close to what you need, then cut and weld it to fit, your just not in the Datsun zone. It looks good one color, I like the kingcab the best. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Built between June and October '82 making it an early '83 model year that still has the DATSUN stamped tailgate, the horizontal rear tail lights and the hood louvers. All those changed in November '82. Like the bed liner paint job. Quote Link to comment
Fat510
I see you're running slot mags too :) Are you going to make a rear bumper for it? Quote Link to comment
kf5qzs
Yessir, I got a freind that welds & fabricates metal. Going to have them make it so I can put a winch hidden under the rear bumper. The original one broke in half when I tried pulling a freind out of a mudhole. 1 Quote Link to comment
xsdg
Be careful you don't damage the truck's frame by tugging on things. It's way weaker (at least judging by the design) compared to most modern truck frames. Quote Link to comment
