sd22 fusible link specs

I've been searching for awhile for this information because I know it's been asked. I even went as far as to look on ebay for a used fusible link to measure - but couldn't find one new or used.

There's a cheap generic "fusible link" on the battery right now that's getting a bit flaky. It was supposed to be temporary until I ordered one from the dealer, who it turns out can't get any more.

I've decided to make some new fusible links with some Anderson connectors and fusible link wire, and I want to get it right.

I've seen the chart posted by the KingRat with the color codes for the Z cars as well as some photos posted by Wayno and tried to look up what gauge fusible link wire that would be. It came out to 16 (for the green) and 20 gauge (for the black). That seems kind of skimpy for the glow plugs to work well. Since the length is important as well, and that's harder to determine from photos, I thought I'd break down and ask what I know has been answered somewhere already.

What are the two gauges and length of wire for the fusible links in the 720 with an SD22? My soldering iron is just itching to make some new links. The truck would probably like it too.

I have an '83 FSM diagram for the diesel SD22 or SD25 I don't know. Probably the same. It shows 4 fusible links.

Black.... to a White wire and to the glow plug relay

Green.... to a Red wire and to the lighting switch

Green.... to White/black stripe wire and to the ignition switch

Black...... to White and to the alternator plug and the fuse box.

Length is about 3-4 inches.(guess)

Dang Wayno. That's pretty exact. Sometimes I wonder if you have time for anything other than going out, measuring, and taking nice photos of parts to answer people's questions. I keep looking at your location hoping it would change to someplace close enough to meet up for some beverages.

Thanks again guys. That's enough information to make a suitable replacement.
