clutch recommendations

Recommended Posts

I have a 68 510 with an l20b in it

do you guys have any recommendations on a clutch kit (IE what brands are good these days )

or who is better

Exedy

Beck Arnley etc

I figure a 76 620 truck has the L20 and would get something to fit that but I am not sure what the best brand for the money is

Thanks

Exedy is one of the best priced clutch kits out there. What I have on my L20b and my KA24. I have absolutely tortured the one on the KA and it's still going strong. And this is just the stage 1 organic.

If this is for the street, you don't want to go much harder of a clutch as it will chatter and just down right kill your leg.

Forget the Beck Arnley. Had one fail me in less than a year. Replaced it with an Exedy.

If you ordered the Exedy through Autozone's website with discount code "20SAVINGS" which takes 20% off it comes to $263.99... not bad! Regular price is $330. Well, at least that is for mine...

Replace the pilot bushing and resurface the flywheel next time.

yes I will do that

this is the setup that came on the motor when I bought it

I am finding exedy for under 100 in a clutch kit

are there different grades that would make one 263 dollars

or maybe it came with a new flywheel

Here's your $300+ Exedy clutch kit.....no flywheel

Definitely a little more effort to depress the clutch pedal....but...it's good for about 300 ft lbs of torque

Good clutch...I like

That is an OEM style from a company they bought out, not Exedy's performance clutch. Same as the Beck Arnley sold at Advance or Duralast sold at Autozone.

ahh

key words RACING CLUTCH

more clamp force than stock= more $$$$$

Other than a OEM clutch kit from Exedy (which are now NLA for most datsuns) .......all are classified as a "Racing Clutch"

Their racing clutches have 5 different stages.....1 through 5

Mine is a Stage 1

And yes.....improved clutch design typically equates to more $
