paradime
Kek:Kek is an onomatopoeia of the gurgling sound Donald Trump made in the Russian golden shower video. It was then adopted as a word of praise by white supremacists towards the ancient tentacle monster Covfefe, whom they fornicate with; hoping their praises would compel Covfefe to cleanse the world with a great golden flood. Jesse C.
Bringing Down the House: A Hostile Takeover of Science-Based Policymaking by Trump Appointees The Trump administration is slowly filling positions below the cabinet officer level in the “mission agencies” of the federal government (e.g., EPA, NOAA , Interior, DOE, etc. whose job it is to implement a specific set of statutory mandates). The appointed individuals are leading day-to-day decision-making on policies from public health and safety to environmental protection to critical applied science programs. In other words, the decisions these appointees make will affect everyone in the country. The job of the agencies and their political leadership is to represent the public interest. It is not to serve the private interests of particular industries and companies, or even to push political viewpoints, but to implement legislative mandates in the interest of the American public. After all, who else but government can do this? Our laws call for the water and air to be clean, our workers and communities to be safe, our environment to be healthy and our science to be robust and fundamental to better policy and decision-making. That is what mission agencies are tasked to do. https://blog.ucsusa.org/andrew-rosenberg/bringing-down-the-house-a-hostile-takeover-of-science-based-policymaking-by-trump-appointees But there is this.... https://www.activistfacts.com/organizations/145-union-of-concerned-scientists/ Link to comment

a.d._510_n_ok
Why is the left-wing LA Times trying to stop their employees from going union? After 135 Years, the L.A. Times Is Unionizing. What Took So Long? The last straw was when the company took away its employees' accrued vacation. Journalists at the Los Angeles Times were saving up their time off, using it as a financial cushion in the event their jobs were sacrificed in a future round of layoffs. The new policy — so-called unlimited vacation — meant the Times' parent company, tronc, no longer had to pay out for unused time. When unveiling the policy, tronc told staffers to use up all of their vacation by the end of the year. Voila! A form of compensation was taken away, a guaranteed benefit replaced with a policy that, according to employees, is unreliable and unevenly applied. According to a statement on the Los Angeles Times Guild website, tronc has launched an anti-union campaign and, so far, "It’s rather primitive stuff," "They’re using scare tactics." one staffer says. "It's old-fashioned stuff you'd see at factories and loading docks. It's complete bullshit." http://www.laweekly.com/news/who-owns-la-weekly-8911213 Link to comment

a.d._510_n_ok
EU says we can't have the Trump tax cuts, boys. I'm sorry. US tax reform breaks global rules, EU says European finance ministers are worried. They say the United States' big tax reform bill contains measures that would unfairly disadvantage European business and contravene global fair-taxation rules. Are they right? "The United States is Europe's single most important trade and investment partner," the finance ministers wrote. "It is important that the U.S. government's rights over domestic tax policy be exercised in a way that adheres with international obligations to which it has signed-up. The inclusion of certain less conventional international tax provisions could contravene the US's double taxation treaties and may risk having a major distortive impact on international trade." First, the House bill proposed a new "excise tax" of 20 percent, levied on payments made when an American company buys goods or services from a foreign subsidiary or "affiliate" — unless the subsidiary elects to treat the payments as income in the US. The European finance ministers argued that this measure would break WTO rules because it levies a tax only on foreign goods and services, not on the equivalent domestically produced goods and services. They said it also amounts to "double taxation," because it would effectively tax the profits of non-US-resident companies — after they already paid taxes on those same profits in their home countries. http://www.dw.com/en/us-tax-reform-breaks-global-rules-eu-says/a-41862318 1 Link to comment
paradime
Reality don't happen till they do what they say they will do. Reality is a subjective internal construct. In my fiscally responsible reality, tax cuts and deregulation have created three bubbles in the passed that all burst spectacularly. But doing it again when corporate stock evaluations are at record highs because they are making record profits and holding record reserves of cash, productivity is at record highs but inflation adjusted middle income has been flat for 50 years, and their capital wealth and savings are at an all time low, while at the top 1% their capital wealth has never been this high except for the late 1920s right before the Great Depression... No in my reality a corporation already making $13.77 billion in profits last year doesn't need to pay 40% less in taxes so they can make $1.3 billion more at the expense of the federal budget. In fact, in my reality that's pretty fucking grotesque. In other people's reality though, this is going to make America great again because now these bloated top heavy corporations are going to invest in manufacturing, and for a short time, middle income tax will go down 16% and they'll get a whole $1,000 back (if you live in the right state).
