Our oldest is serving on the Ford.

Surprisingly there are 2 survivors of the Battle ship Arizona!  On the remote areas of Ford Island are the remnants of the above water sheet metal removed from the Arizona's superstructure and preserved for posterity.  And then there is the "Liberty Launch" that was waiting ashore to return the crew members that had Liberty and were due to return to the ship that morning.  It survived the raid and was used as a general purpose launch all through WW2.  At the end of hostilities it was sold as Excess inventory.  It wound up on Lake Tahoe in Crystal Cove where it serves the tourist trade as a sightseeing tour boat on the South side of Lake Tahoe.  It looks surprisingly like President  Roosevelt's modified "Sequoya" launch that he used to cruse the Patomac.  It may not be an active Navy vessile but it surely is an honerable one!

Beijing's message to Australia: Get used to Chinese Navy ships off our coast

Today China's military brushed aside concerns about a Chinese naval intelligence ship near Queensland during recent American-led drills with Australia.

China's military is rapidly expanding its global presence.

They are already in Africa, been there for quiet some time digging for metals and of course " helping" them with their infrasture. Any time a country grows economically and militarially, they will go to other countries to exploit their resources because their people needs to be fed, they purchase more deal and so on. Prior to their military build up, they did not give a crap or did not have the means to expand their influence in the Spratly islands, now they do, all of the sudden, China is saying its theirs.

back in the days, it was called "colonialism" now probably "economic development", all the same, different wording or rhetoric.  They are there for their own purpose, exploit the land and resources for their own economic growth and of course Africans don't really have a choice but to open their arms because it does provide jobs and economic growth, everyone will benefit, except for the poorest of the poor.  The politicians, land owners, kings, rulers, bankers will reap the rewards.  As the saying goes "he who has the gold makes the rules", while they destroy their lands.

Yeh but remember during WW2, we had way more tanks than the Germans, yet their tanks were more technologically advanced, their tanks guns were bigger and had better armor, yet we overcame them with superior numbers and knowing how China can mass produce anything, backed with strong finances. We do owe them trillions..I mean who knows, they can be in par with our navy in 10 years. Plus read in some military magazine that they have missed that can knock out an aircraft carrier. Yeh, their stuff has not been tried out but also remember we beat the British who were more technologically advance and had better troops. Their number one issue was logistics.

It's hard to sustain an invasion of the US. Supply lines would stretch across the Atlantic or Pacific. At the moment the US owns the world... nothing moves on the surface without it's say so. China has a weak spot. It's only industrialized along a thin path along the east coast. The vast majority of people make fuck all and live poorly.

Things to keep in mind...

China relies on trade with the west in order to sustain it's incredible growth and keep going.Would not take a lot to fuck this up.

It's government is oppressive and autocratic.

Most Chines have little and know they will always have little of the economic benefits of the few on the industrial coast. Many poor, few rich.

China has always been closed to the world and knows very little has no history of military conquering or running a colony. Like it's navy it is very inexperienced in world matters.

kinda feel bad for Jeff Sessions - dude was an early Trump supporter and Trump has ripped the dude in public pretty hard these last few days.

Reality check..... they are politicians. If he was a chicken, I'd be saying... "yeah.... but they sure taste good!"
