The failed "psych test" is a hard one to nail down, a good friend of mine "failed" his psych test for the state patrol because they said his answering was too consistent. He did however pass the psych test to work in corrections.

Another individual I know failed his psych test for being too understanding, basically he was too nice and was failed for it.

A law enforcement psych test is left to a lot of enturpritation by the test giver and the type of person that they wish to aquire.

Perhaps outright ban for psych test fail isn't right, lets say flag for further investigation. It's a start

Dishonorable discharge already is already a disqualification Mike. When the Germans gave up their rights at the request of hitler, was that pulling their heads out of their asses? I think not. It’s funny that you’re bashing how “easy” it is to get a gun in America when a lot of areas in Canada are less restrictive than a lot of places in America. I watched a vid of a guy buying a fucking Tavor and walking out with it immediately, and a Tavor is much more an “assault” weapon than any non sbr ar15.

I didn't bash or say it was easy to get a gun in the States. ( but it is) Thanks. It should be easy enough to get a gun if you want one. It should, at the same time, be impossible to get a gun if you are deemed incompetent to have one..... big difference. So rather than the NRA and gun 'nuts' ranting that everyone has the right to bear arms they should be crafting legislation to protect the rights of those deserving to buy or own them. So yeah they need to pull their heads out of their asses. You know that amendments are alterations and they can be changed, right? They are carved in stone only as long as enough people do not oppose it.

Wow, pretty damning list Fetch. Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, and Celexa are all SSRIs and although they have warnings for higher risk of adolescent suicide, as far as I know none of them have specific warnings about acting out violent behavior on others. Not at all surprised though. drug companies are down right F'n evil when it comes to dodging and covering up shit.

Hey this is one of the greatest things I have seen you type. I know you have experience with people consuming these items.

That gun is a hunting rifle. Not designed for battle field, and not designed to kill people.

Edit: shit, that might be an Arisaka. In which case, I've gotta eat my words.

No! Note the fore end of the stock!  It's a USA made British Enfield P14 in .303 British or the USA model 1917 in 30-06 caliber, with the rear sight "ears" milled off like the civilian Remington post WW1 market.  In any case, the P14 British and the US Model 1917 [same rifle, same US manufacturer, Remington] in good old .30-06 caliber served Britain and the USA well in WW1.  Not a late Remington civilian product, note the slightly modified military stock.

I guarantee you that when the left has successfully eliminated "assault rifles" they'll start referring to pic related as a "sniper rifle" and why would any modern society allow private citizens to own a weapon produced for the battlefield and designed to kill from a great distance with such powerful velocity?

Here it's called Antelope !  Very hard to approach. Eyes like a human on an eight power binocular.  Thank God they never learned to hop a fence and stupidly pause to hook under the bottom strand of wire.  Note to non USA readers, this is the North American Antelocopus, not the African "true" antelope varieties.

I owned a British Lee Enfield 303 something like this but didn't have the wood on top of the barrel. The rear sight was adjustable to 900 yds? or 1,200 I don't remember. It had a date that was before WW2. The stock was beautiful and must have been added later.

ATF investigating after congressional candidate cut apart AR-15

Karen Mallard of Virginia Beach posted a video on social media that shows her sawing an AR-15 rifle into pieces.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is investigating congressional candidate Karen Mallard after she posted a video on Facebook that shows her cutting apart an AR-15 rifle.

The school teacher and Democrat is running for Virginia's 2nd Congressional District, hoping to oust Republican Congressman Scott Taylor.

In the video, as Mallard introduces herself, she says, "I grew up in Wise County, surrounded by guns. Our family had guns my whole life. We use them for hunting, for protection, and recreation."

She goes on to explain that she wasn't happy when her husband bought the AR-15 "a while back." Mallard adds that after the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida on February 14, and the renewed outcries for stricter gun control that followed, she and her husband agreed they didn't want the AR-15 in their home.

The couple later decided they didn't want it it anyone else's house, either.

"So, today, we're going to destroy it," states Mallard before taking a handheld power saw to it.

In a matter of hours, the video drew hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of comments.

Many of those comments were negative. Some people accused Mallard of political grandstanding.

Several others said Mallard broke federal law by taking a legal firearm and altering it, making it into an illegal one. Many of them referred to details contained within the Sawed-Off Shotgun and Sawed-Off Rifle Act which, in part, prohibits people (except for those permitted by the act) from having a rifle that has been "modified to an overall length of less than 26 inches."

FWIW this appears to be a mark 5 .303 called a jungle carbine (RW has one in his collection). It had a shorter barrel than other 303's and was used by Australian and American forces in certain theatres of war including Vietnam. Dont remember mine having the long range rear sight; ill have a look tonight.

im quite certain she would have cut the gas tube with that cut. So, perhaps it would shoot once. Then I don't even know if there would be easy to clear the chamber. But what I am certain of, is that that was an abrasive cutoff wheel. Not a saw.

It was in beautiful shape, clean and looked after when I got it. I think the stock was replaced. It was much much lighter color and more like a 'hunting rifle'. if you know what I mean. A buddy and I went out back on the farm and took some practice shots. I fired at a fence post across a field and saw a spray shoot up another field over and figured I missed. We wandered over and the bullet had gone completely through a railway tie. Fuck me.

Yeah except for the revenue from the gas tax and registration (another tax) and smog and the state income tax and probably 4 or 5 others I'm forgetting.

Also, why the hell should they get revenue from a private citizen driving on the road they already pay for again? Fucking blood sucking parasites i.e., politicians.

This might be something,.. But the result is going to be a lot of Bernie Sanders.

Democrats Are Considering Dropping Superdelegates Altogether

The measure would go a step beyond the Clinton-Sanders Unity Commission proposals to change the superdelegate system. An “absurd and undemocratic idea,” one DNC member said in a memo to party leaders.

What does Broward Sheriff Scott Israel not want us to see?

Since the Valentine’s Day shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, many government officials have walled off information needed to assess how well they did their jobs.

At the head of the pack is Broward Sheriff Scott Israel, who suggests the school’s resource officer acted cowardly during the mass shooting and two deputies mishandled earlier warnings. Aside from that, though, the sheriff wants you to take his word that he and his deputies did amazing work before, during and after the shooting.

But that’s not how it works. To hold government accountable, we need a better picture of what happened. And that means we need to see the evidence ourselves, starting with the security video taken outside the school.

The video is not the only public record sought by the South Florida Sun Sentinel and other media organizations in the aftermath of the shooting and the epic government failure surrounding it. Among other things, we’ve also requested copies of the 911 calls, police radio calls and incident reports from the 39 times BSO deputies were called to the home of Nikolas Cruz, who’s confessed to carrying out the rampage that killed 17 and injured 17.

But the video is an important first step in answering urgent questions, including: What went right and wrong outside the school? Where was School Resource Officer Scot Peterson during the shooting? How long did it take BSO deputies to arrive? Did they enter the building or not? Were Coral Springs officers first to go in? Were emergency medical technicians restrained from entering? How long before rescue trucks were able to race victims to hospitals?

So on Thursday, the Sun Sentinel’s lawyers will appear before Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey Levenson to make the case that there’s good cause to release the video.

“By refusing to release the video, the public is being deprived of significant and first-hand information that would allow them to have an informed voice on what changes may be necessary to avoid such tragedies in the future, and to potentially provide an answer to the pressing question of whether more lives could have been saved,” says our lawyer, Dana McElroy, of the Tampa-based firm of Thomas & LoCicero.

Sheriff Israel doesn’t want to release the video, which is curious, given that he’s already given a detailed description of its substance. At a televised press conference eight days after the shooting, he said he felt “the public needed to know” that the video showed Peterson did “nothing” except get on his radio while shots were being fired. The sheriff said Peterson “never went in” as he should have.

But four days later, Peterson, through his lawyer, said the criticism was unwarranted and that the video (along with eyewitness testimony) will exonerate him.
