Jesse C.
America is an unassailable fortress with Atlantic and Pacific oceans on either side. Have you any idea how hard it would be to mount an invasion and keep it supplied with lines that long??? On top of this, America commands all sea routes. NOTHING moves on the world's oceans without American oversight. Not telling anyone anything. Someone posted suggestions. Those are mine. It limits or prevents those undeserving of gun ownership. But hey, if you support everyone being able to buy and do what ever the fuck they want with a firearm.... congrats..... You've got everything you want now! This has nothing to do with people that don't want a gun it's to protect them from the crazies that do. There are some good ideas there.... so are you afraid that you would loose your weapons for failure to meet those requirements? Fine, you opinions are yours and you are sharing them here, and so are mine. And if I do not agree with you, I will voice it. But, it does seem weird that someone who has very limited cultural understanding of being an American with our laws and rights should telling me, and American, how to live. No, I do not have any concern to be denied a firearm. I have passed multiple test and have had proper training on weapons handling. And for the most part, I agree with you. Link to comment

a.d._510_n_ok
I wouldn't trust 99% of teachers to be around my kids if they had guns... if you guys spent family get-togethers hearing how fucked up many teachers are IRL you wouldn't either. .. ....which suggests why so many teachers and teacher unions are opposed to teachers carrying guns, i.e., the simple FBI mandated background check necessary to purchase a gun probably scares the shit out of many teachers who have some extra shady shit in their backgrounds. Has he even met with the teachers association, unions and other entities that will be involved? Honestly, it’s hard to take you seriously with your effeminate trumpcheeto passive aggression. I have a feeling you’d have been pissed if someone would’ve compared your boy Barry to a food...maybe a chocolate creme sandwich cookie. What does it matter if he’s met with teachers union or not? He could pull a Barryoreo and just make it an executive order, and give the training and ccw licensing duties to the Sherrif like everyone else. 2 Link to comment

Has he even met with the teachers association, unions and other entities that will be involved? I think there will be many teachers who will resist this. You can't make someone carry a firearm others will shake head and see it as the next best thing. Mental cases will see it as death by teacher. Link to comment

You do realize no one has said to force anyone to carry a weapon? The discussion was to give a bonus to those who would be willing to carry and train to be a guardian teacher. Otherwise known as an E.R.T. 1 Link to comment
datzenmike
Oh absolutely. It seems that no one has asked if this is even a good idea either, after all it isn't their job is it? This is merely passing the buck and dumping the responsibility on someone else. If any idiot can have a gun there must be more than a few incompetent teachers that feel pressured or that they need to be armed and really they shouldn't. What's needed is better security at schools so this never happens. Maybe screening and armed security at a single entrance. Guns brought to school to counter guns brought to school??? Seems like going backwards. 1 Link to comment

Seems like going backwards. (It seems that no one has asked if this is even a good idea either, after all it isn't their job is it?) : Depends on the region. This has been a topic for longer than the last couple weeks. There are teachers willing to take on the added training while there is also the contrary who do not. This is not passing the buck. I am pretty certain that phrase doesn't apply to this topic. Is it their job? Well that's up to the school board to define what their job is. If a district decides that teachers can and the teacher be willing to participate in training for such things. Then it can be defined as "Their Job.". No one would be forcing unwilling participants. (If any idiot can have a gun there must be more than a few incompetent teachers that feel pressured or that they need to be armed and really they shouldn't.) : I agree that no idiot should be able to just raise a hand and say "I" to receive such a responsibility. I don't think this system would allow such a lax approach. (What's needed is better security at schools so this never happens.): I totally agree. The N.U.T. and A.F.T. have both railed against security several times when the idea was couched. We secure the lowest lifeforms on the planet known as Politicians but for some reason everyone starts acting like we have no ability to protect children with secure measures at 1/4 the scale currently protecting pedantic assholes. Makes no sense to leave school as soft targets. (Maybe screening and armed security at a single entrance.): This setup should be as we do with military bases. You have choke point entrances and exits from the grounds with security measures. As at any courthouse they have this same setup as well. Along with visual aids showing people who are restricted from campus. ( Guns brought to school to counter guns brought to school??? Seems like going backwards.): Why does this seem as a backward thought? What are your "Most Important" people in your nation protected with? Sticks and kinds words? Or are you speaking generally about a teacher having the gun? In that case it still comes down to adequate teachers willing to make the strides to take on the extra role of E.R.T. 1 Link to comment
