Religions, capitalism, Marxism, all are ideals and can never live up to their ideals. People are drawn to these ideals because of what they promise. In reality, its always about who controls the resources, money and power. Hence, north Korea. I see it more like a family business or the mafia. They are very quick to point out the reason why they suffer is because of the imperialistic USA but of course most of their suffering is the Kim dynasty and how it keeps its citizens in the dark. Very similar to religion, very controlling. Don't look at these as your savior, find your own way.

Idealist [Marksist]. " From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs."  The functional end of Socialism in the English colony of Virginia.  Thank God!  It was a disaster.  The diletants went off on their source of gold and the diletants depended on the lower classes to feed them.

Captain John Smith [a good name if you ask me] decreed "if you do not work, you do not feed" and put an end to this English nobility nonsense.

It's a failure only because in hind sight, it did fail. In theory it is near perfect but human nature fucked it up just like capitalism only less so. We are not all born equal, any idiot can see that. What we have agreed on is that if we accept everyone as equal (no not really equal, just having an equal share of opportunity, rights, justice etc.) and band together into large groups we can get more done. Any large group will condense all the power seekers who will gravitate to the top (remember we are not equal) and the sociopaths, well the ones that care enough, who are the best at climbing to the top get to rule us. The ones who care the least about us get to rule us, now how fucked up is that?

Well both Mikes, I'm not sure what either of you are trying to say, but I'm pretty sure it's fucked up.

That's just what people who have never studied religion say, or align religion with a cult.

There is almost no difference between cult and religion.

Famines were caused by Stalin and not by accident and many of those pictures are from almost 90 years ago and not today. There were soup kitchen lines here also.

I spent some time in Tooele, UT for work a few years ago. Just for fun, my colleague and I were looking up some facts, and it turned out that 98% of the town was mormon. We were out on the salt flats on a military base all week, so we decided to run to walmart for cases of water and snacks. It was SUPER weird. Every underage age girl there had about 3 or 4 kids already. Such a weird and depressing place. For a lot of them, its all they've ever known.

Why is it that has been music artists continue to put their own interpretations on the Murican national anthem?

It should be sung consistently with gusto and a degree of solemnity imltho, not like a fucking rap tune.

Hell, I’m not Murican but even I stood when the star spangled banner was played when I was in Vegas many years ago.

The tune of the star spangled banner is actually an old English bar song "Hymn to Andronocles in Heaven" used to test the singer's lung power and ability to sing a long tune.

Not quite, but it is a cool story though.

It wasn't written as a bar song, The melody of "The Anacreontic Song" was created by an 18th-century English composer named John Stafford Smith. In fact it was the official song of the Anacreontic Society, made up of barristers, doctors, and other professional gentlemen. This club of amateur musicians in London named themselves after the Greek poet Anacreon, who lived in the 6th century B.C.  Anacreon's poetic wit, "anacreontics", was used to entertain noble patrons in Teos and Athens. The society's main goal was to promote an interest in music and played hosts to prominent musicians and composers of the day, like Joseph Haydn.

Lyrics of the Anacreontic Song "To Anacreon in Heaven" were later written by then president of the society, Ralph Tomlinson and celebrated Bacchus, the Greek god of wine. That's when it splintered off and became a "drinking song" on both sides of the Atlantic. But you're right, it was the melody, not Tomlinson lyrics that went on to fame. That happened when an American attorney Francis Scott Key wrote a poetic text titled "Defense of Fort M'Henry". It was his account of being detained on a British ship as their forces bombarded the American Fort McHenry during the War of 1812, and his elation in finding "our flag was still there."

The Star-Spangled Banner", consisting of Key's text "Defence of Fort M'Henry" and Smith's tune "The Anacreontic Song", didn't become our National Anthem until Key gave his poem to his brother-in-law Judge Joseph H. Nicholson who saw that Key's words fit the popular melody. I can imagine the total Fuck You in repurposing an English gentlemen's song to celebrate kicking there ass AGAIN.

We are a nation of straight up kick asses, but unfortunately without a clear enemy we turn that fighting energy on ourselves. It's not as easy as "Live and let live", because that's not the way the American mythology of Capitalism works.

Being socialist/communist the police and military are antifa, without the funding from billionaires.

I think you're mistaking Socialism/Communism with Fascism. ANTIFA and their foe White Nationalists/Supremacists are all fascists.

BTW, what we call American "Capitalism" is nothing of the sort. It is and always has been a mixed economic system with elements of both capitalist free markets and socialist planned economic control by government. And in our best traditions, we are a nation of compassion, not savagery.

Our "free market" system is anything but free. With the death of the Gold Standard and creation of the Federal Reserve Bank the heart of our capitalist system became a Fiscal Plutocracy.

no, antifa is outright claiming to be socialist/communist.

Didn't know that, IMO ANTIFA could claim to be a militant faction of the Girl Scouts, doesn't change the fact they're fascist in their severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
