In theory it is near perfect but human nature fucked it up just like capitalism only less so. We are not all born equal, any idiot can see that. What we have agreed on is that if we accept everyone as equal (no not really equal, just having an equal share of opportunity, rights, justice etc.) and band together into large groups we can get more done. Any large group will condense all the power seekers who will gravitate to the top (remember we are not equal) and the sociopaths, well the ones that care enough, who are the best at climbing to the top get to rule us. People are drawn to these ideals because of what they promise. In reality, its always about who controls the resources, money and power. Hence, north Korea. I see it more like a family business or the mafia. They are very quick to point out the reason why they suffer is because of the imperialistic USA but of course most of their suffering is the Kim dynasty and how it keeps its citizens in the dark.
