240zness
They all vote against everything republican every time. Two vote majorities get put under pressure. I thought it's was about immigrants for dems, sorry. Interesting how a border wall is the only infrastructure project in history dems don't want to spend money on. 2 Link to comment
VFR800
Ok,so Republican #'s for House and Senate are in majority but the two-thirds majority rule is in play and Dems have effect on that? Sorry for not understanding how the majority #'s for Reps does not mean they can have their way. Link to comment

Sorry for not understanding how the majority #'s for Reps does not mean they can have their way. We have 50 or so. We need 60 Votes to pass. Hence why we need Democrats to pull heads out of their ass and vote. 3 Link to comment
Jesse C.
Astonished by the mad torrent of bovine scatology flowing out of the House of reps tonight. Does anybody really believe the government shutdown over the SPENDING bill was predicated on immigration issues? Give me a f'n break, Trump, Dems, Reps, and the entire Washington establishment couldn't give a flying fart about illegal aliens, but they sure as hell know how to use them as a political smoke screen. I wish the Dreamers, Illegals and Gardeners would get a clue that they are just being used as a pawn for the Dems to get their way. Soon they will be in the waiting room of other Dem political causes that will only be used when necessary. The DACA deal is not over until March, the Budget has nothing to do with it. But, the ill informed and the activist see it as their chance to make noise. 4 Link to comment
flyerdan
The republicans have an incredible opportunity to drive home the point that Turban Durban and Chuck-you Schumer are shutting down the gov't by placing the well being of illegal aliens above the citizens of this country. An ad campaign stating that those greasy cocksuckers are the ones that have been feeding you Pelosi sundaes while the republicans are (finally) standing up for Americans would go far. 3 Link to comment
john510
Republicans have 51 people in the Senate vs. 47 Democrats.60 yes votes are needed to pass this crap.Chuckie Schumer is a fucking whiner. 4 Link to comment
racerx
Nah...repubs rammed tax bill to dems so dems said fuck you too. Hence gridlock...MARA. 1 Link to comment
VFR800
Ok,so when the word majority is used it's different to how it works on a Westminster system where the word majority means you can pass stuff without the need of the other party/s. Thanks for explaining fellas cause it's just hard to cut through article after article on google when there's so many different ones saying who's "fault" it is. 1 Link to comment
240zness
Even the NYT was blaming dems.. Google called it trump's shutdown Lots of blaming Remember '08-10.. was other way. Nothing really passed, since a lot of republicans didn't want to spend 3 Link to comment

Trump and many other politicians vilify them to get elected, so clearly the immigration BS rhetoric flows in both directions. Bottom line, powerless cheep labor is good for profit, that's why our borders are open, and nothing ever changes. DACA,The Wall, Sanctuary Cities, and all the other war cries before that, they are all cynical tools of political manipulation PERIOD. IMO, playing their BS game of blaming the other side is ill informed and far from productive. It's the problem. Link to comment
angliagt
The shutdown is just a ploy for the Democrats,so they can raise our debt even higher. The US Government won't shut down completely.By law, there are certain obligations they have to make. Another part of this that irks me is that when gov't employees get laid off, they still get paid afterwards.Shouldn't they keep working, until the "shutdown" is over? My understanding is that the gov't has been "shut down" many times in the past, & most of us weren't even aware of it. 1 Link to comment
