Honestly, I'm exhausted by the gun rights argument. Especially when engaging with people who have very little experience and (sorry Mike) foreigners. Most people would not necessarily assume I'm a gun owner at first meeting. Maybe, maybe not. Apparently, from my observations in 'Cuz, I'm a gun nut. So rather than argue guns, please allow me to give some broader perspective.

How would it feel to be constantly told by bicyclists that we shouldn't be allowed to drive? "But we love our Datsuns and we aren't hurting anyone." Bicyclists say you can keep your Datsun but no one needs 6 cylinders...or dual carbs...or 5 speeds...or wide tires. Only the police and military can be trusted with those types of cars. Bicyclists make a bunch of noise and pass restrictive laws banning those features that really don't make the cars any more or less harmful. No more Zs or typically upgraded 510s because they look too fast and scary. Then some asshole who's lost his license for hit and run illegally drives a 620 into a park bench and kills someone. Instead of blaming the driver, the bicyclists make more noise. Now high capacity fuel tanks and large caliber displacements (you know, >1.5 liters) are banned. Oops! A criminal stole a 520 and runs over his wife who was fucking his boss. Bicyclists are certain that requiring all Datsun owners to have a background check and waiting period at the gas station will prevent this from ever happening again. Uh oh! A crazy homeless person breaks into a garage and steals a B210 and the voices tell him to drive into a bus stop. Obviously, the only solution is that Datsun owners relinquish their cars to the bicyclists. No more Datsuns is clearly the cure for crime, domestic abuse and mental illness. Because common sense dictates that bicyclists know what's best for drivers.

Yes I realize it's not a perfect comparison -- Because the constitution gives me specific rights to firearms but not to Datsuns.

No Rjawm, I didn't make that analogy, but it's funny when DRIVEN's analogy is turned on it's head to make a rhetorical counter point, CRIMES ARE COMMITTED IN CARS, THE IRISH WEREN'T ALLOWED TO HAVE EXPENSIVE HORSES, and RIGHTS ARE NOT PRIVILEGES. I have zero argument with any of this, but Instead of reading stuff out of context, go back, read the entire conversation before making assumptions.

The 2nd amendment does not define what constitutes "A well *regulated* militia". (MikeRL411 correction) In 1789 there was no national guard, many townships had no official police force and guns were ball and powder. The writers of this amendment were putting the responsibility of protection in the hands of the states and the individual. They had no idea were gun technology would go.

So, I pull a direct quote of your "counter point" making a comparison of the law and regulations of vehicles being used to regulate firearms and you say you didn't say it?

Ok...I guess it works for Trump, so it will work for you.

At least he admits in the original post that it's not a perfect comparison.  Oh, and I did read it all, I didn't take anything out of context, I merely poked at your version because your writing tone lends itself to giving off an air of perfection in only your side of an argument.

Your point was mildly mediocre.

You do know that if someone breaks a law with a firearm they are not only fined, have third right to bear revoked and most likely jailed. That doesn't happen when you get a speeding ticket.

That being said someone who cannot own firearms can get them just like someone who is not allowed to drive a car can do so, both illegally.

If it was mildly mediocre than why is it getting so much attention?  You do know that even with the 21st amendment, if you drink and get a speeding ticket... Boooyaaaah! Paradime from the three point line... Wooosh, nothing but net.

The Declaration of Independence clarified our intention to award all citizens the right to the pursuit of happiness. Back in those days they didn't have the Name Datsun yet sooo.

One thing I've noticed is people seem to forget it is the right "to the pursuit of happiness", not happiness itself.

Personally, I've always felt that meant if you want to be happy you're going to have to work for it.

...I don't think that will penetrate new tanks, maybe WW 1 or some WW2 era tanks. Newer RPGs can penetrate, maybe the back of a tank.

RPG’s have anti tank ordinance. There was a sweet episode of Future Weapons that showed some cool defense tech against the RPG

DHP can you explain how any of Reagan economics affected you?

Great question, I was pondering the same thing.

If I was still working for someone else I could say that real wages have not kept pace with cost of living.

Here is what happened;

Pay particular attention to the part which starts at "Ronald Reagan's..."
