"Once again, a non-cooperative jurisdiction has left their community vulnerable to dangerous individuals and preventable crimes. ICE lodged a detainer against Jesus Gonzalez with Sonoma County jail officials on October 16, following his arrest on felony charges for maliciously setting fire to a property. This is especially troubling in light of the massive wildfires already devastating the region. Over the past year, ICE has lodged detainers against Mr. Gonzalez after four separate arrests by Sonoma County on various felony and misdemeanor charges. ICE was never notified of Mr. Gonzalez’ various releases. Additionally, Mr. Gonzales has been returned to his home country of Mexico on two separate occasions. The residents of Sonoma County, and the state of California, deserve better than policies that expose them to avoidable dangers. Non-cooperation policies – now enshrined in California state law – ensure only one thing: criminals who would otherwise be deported will be released and left free to reoffend as they please."

George W. Bush Says America Has Lost Its Identity in Trump Era

Former President George W. Bush warned about the rise of bigotry in the U.S. and the consequences of rejecting the outside world as he delivered a speech at the "Spirit of Liberty" forum in New York City on Thursday.

Though he never explicitly mentioned President Donald Trump, Bush's remarks represented a staunch rejection of the commander-in-chief's embrace of isolationism and hyper-nationalism.

"Our identity as a nation—unlike many other nations—is not determined by geography or ethnicity, by soil or blood. Being an American involves the embrace of high ideals and civic responsibility," Bush said.

All eye's are on California, and obviously Brietbart and the director of ICE want to politicize this story, and spin the shit out of it to push the Federal Gov's narrative, good or bad. Let's unravel the BS though.

The camp fire Gonzalez started to heat food got way from him, he did his best to put it out with a fire extinguisher, and police were able to clear any embers with their feet. He didn't maliciously setting fire to a property, and he was never charged with felony arson.

Other than getting credit for deporting this POS multiple times, what would ICE have done differently? Maybe he's making a case that "Returned" is not as tough as "Deported"?

Goonzalez is not being released, he is being sent to Ventura on a warrant for drug charges and will be "Returned", "Deported" or kicked the fuck out AGAIN. Once local California law enforcement takes an undocumented who has committed a crime or has a criminal record into custody, they take steps to have them deported. An ICE Detainer is nothing more than taking any undocumented individual into federal custody so they can take credit for deporting them. Maybe now that Mr. Homan's funding was doubled and has 10,000 additional immigration officers he can stop this criminal from getting back into California and putting us in danger.

I wonder if Jesus Gonzalez were caucasian the authorities would have kept him in custody ? This sanctuary thing is pretty sad and it's asking for trouble.Hopefully the next victim of a crime from somebody that should be deported or in jail happens to one of those politicians supporting this policy.

No one's say'n he ante as dumb as a stump, or that sanctuary cities are any smarter. Just unraveling the BS spin flying around this story.

He needs jail time, lots of it, too late to deport him, shit that would be a get out of jail free card, and right back in the states next week!

I hear you, but jail time costs money. Cali's get'n Fucked either way.

Cut him loose then?, What's your solution, Paradime?

Who said anything about cutting him loose?

I don't think the politicians who came up with "Sanctuary" aka resistance to federal deportation are doing it out of bleeding heart liberalism. Their doing it out of economic interests in having a cheep workforce for industry and they're selling it as bleeding heart liberalism. Really who the fuck wouldn't want a wall on the border if immigrants actually presented a huge risk? It's about $ not safety and always has been. This is a form of slave labor and once again it appears Dems are on the wrong side. In reality though. we've had more time under republican governors than Dems and still no solution, because it's working perfectly for the powers that be.

Californias businesses have benefited on the backs of these people and Californians businesses are to blame for hiring them.

Schumer steers Dems away from gun votes

Chuck Schumer is urging his colleagues to stay away from gun control in the budget debate despite pressure from activist groups that argue the party needs to take a stand given the string of mass shootings across the country.

Schumer, focused on next year’s midterm elections, thinks it is smarter to focus on economics — specifically President Trump’s tax plan, which Democrats say is a giveaway to corporations and the rich, and GOP proposals to cut Medicare and Medicaid.

The approach isn’t sitting well with everyone, given that the country experienced the deadliest mass shooting in modern history less than three weeks ago, when 58 people were killed by a single gunman who may have used bump stock devices that allowed him to fire more rounds per minute.

In next year’s midterms, however, Democrats will be defending 10 seats in states won by Trump in last year’s election — including West Virginia, Montana and North Dakota, where guns are a big part of the local culture.

Schumer’s strategy is based, at least in part, on saving those seats and potentially winning back the Senate majority next year if Republicans falter badly.

Media told us that Isis found vx, serin in iraq ..

Also was under the impression westernised Iranians were killed or left, often prominent people. And the lines for police recruiting grew after getting frequently bombed right after "invasion"

I do see it as that now.. bushes and everybody are scared , and or jealous

The deportation takes place AFTER serving the sentence!  IF you can get the INS agent out of bed in time to get to the release site before the inmate to the nearest taxi.

I just don't think the cheap labor benefit is clear cut paradime. Especially a flooded low skill cheap labor.

Not that skills aren't there or possible , just low standards. From my experience.

Some part of the liberal maybe but other guys reason for "anti fed" sentiment is for chaotic situations that require reactions and 'solitions' from the ...fed

I don't think you understand what sanctuary City actually does, they protect criminals, not hard working undocumented immigrants, are you attempting to redefine sanctuary City so you feel better about supporting it, Paradime?
