Now swap the work NASCAR in there. I wouldn't cross the street to watch NASCAR today. How great and exciting it used to be in the '60s/'70s when I watched it on Wild World Of Sports and even earlier in the 50s. Today it's all about boring mediocrity, red neck bar-b-q and fireworks??? For what? 30 cars that are all withing 0.5 seconds of each other?  Chevs, Dodge and Fords that all have the same engines in them? WTF??? Only a red neck born after 1970 could get excited about this.

Not the same engines Mike.Same bodywork yes.And as a former diehard Nascar fan,yes it really sucks now.My issues are competition cautions, spec car style bodies and now this stupid stage racing. The rules package they have going is just about the stupidest thing you could do in auto racing. Why do they give points for finishing 35th in a field of 40 ? that causes so many wrecks at the end of races like Daytona or Talladega.Top 20 get points, all others fail.Try harder to win instead of trying to score points. And now they have playoffs.WTF ? i've seen maybe 20 laps of Nascar in 2 years because they suck.

They certainly are the 'same' engines. The rules limit blocks and intakes and what ever to specific approved makers. It's like they hand you your the parts and say put it together and run it. It's done this way so no one has an advantage. WTF? Of being as good as those other 40 cars?

Why The NFL Bet $63 Billion On Beyoncé And The Black Panthers

Feb 13, 2016

Why would the NFL put its $63 billion industry at risk by giving the green light to Beyoncé's shout out to the Black Panthers--an organization responsible for murdering policemen, degrading women and other crimes--during Super Bowl 50's halftime show on CBS CBS +0.75%

Because the league is constantly looking to increase its audience and Roger Goodell and his 32 bosses were betting the NFL would gain more support than it would lose. The simple fact is the composition of Super Bowl 50's halftime show is a microcosm of the league's strategy.

Indeed, the entire production of a football game has evolved into less about the sport and more about fantasy sports, the hours of pregame programming featuring former players and all the things to do in and around the modern stadiums. But the league has been betting--and winning big--that for each purist it loses it will gain many more fringe fans who view the league as one huge reality television show.

The Beyoncé shout out would appear to be a bet that the NFL should lose. New York Post Columnist Phil Mushnick, for one, wrote: "Think Beyoncé and her young troupe had any historical understanding of who and what they were honoring? Do you think any knew that one of the two NYPD officers set up to be randomly executed by Black Panther graduates in 1971 was a black cop, Waverly Jones? Beyoncé, on top of the world, is 34. Officer Jones was assassinated at 33."

After reading this all of the mess going on now makes perfect sense. The hard core fan who loves the game is the obsolete model. Fringe and reality show fans are the new target audience.

National Guard paid millions to NFL teams for in-game soldier salutes

May 11, 2015

During timeouts at home games, the New York Jets air a Hometown Heroes segment in which a U.S. soldier or two are shown on the Jumbotron and everyone thanks them for their service. The soldiers and three friends get seats in the Coaches Club. It’s a nice salute.

It’s also funded by U.S. taxpayers.

In news that was first reported Tuesday by Herb Jackson of the Bergen Record and expanded upon by Christopher Baxter and Jonathan D. Salant of New Jersey Advance Media, the Department of Defense paid 14 NFL teams $5.4 million from 2011 to 2014 for salutes like the Hometown Heroes segment and other advertising at professional football games. All but $100,000 of that money came from the National Guard.

RE: Player Activism for Racial Equality and Criminal Justice Reform

OVERVIEW

As players whom have been advocating for social justice for the past year, we appreciate the opportunity to engage with you, the league, owners, coaches and GMs to make our communities stronger. As we shared with you, the silence following our individual and collective demonstrations around the national anthem to raise awareness to racial inequality and issues surrounding criminal justice reform has been met with inconsistencies in press coverage and perceived lack of support.

To recap our discussion, currently there are more than 40 active players who have.....

Trump should never have opened his... oh wait. It's Trump.

Golden rule of American sports: keep politics out of sports.

Two most masculine pursuits in American male life: NFL football and military service.

NFL allows Kaepernick to begin injecting politics into game (long before Trump's presidency) thus disrespecting military service.

Trump points this out and NFL players en masse disrespect the anthem not of out deeply held political conviction but to spite Trump personally.

Many football fans stop watching the game thus weakening the NFL's influence and illustrating the lack of appeal of SJW politics to the average centrist American. Hell, I ain't even mentioned the conversion of apolitical fans into Trump supporters yet!

Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Calls Snap Election

,....the thing here might be if he can pull a super majority he can change-> Abe, whose ratings have risen to around 50% from around 30% in July, is gambling his ruling bloc can keep its lower house majority even if it loses the two-thirds “super majority” needed to achieve his long-held goal of revising the post-war pacifist constitution to clarify the military’s role.

NFL won't let Cowboys wear decals supporting Dallas police in regular season

Aug 11, 2016

The Dallas Cowboys asked the NFL if the team could wear decals honoring the fallen members of the Dallas Police Department and the NFL, unsurprisingly, said no.

When training camp opened in Oxnard, Calif., earlier this offseason, the Cowboys unveiled "Arm in Arm" helmet decals, designed to pay tribute to the men who lost their lives during the downtown Dallas shooting in July, while also symbolically representing the Cowboys support of the community.

Naturally, the NFL won't let them wear the decals during the regular season.

"Everyone has to be uniform with the league and the other 31 teams," Jerry Jones said Wednesday. "We respect their decision."

DeAngelo Williams asks NFL to wear pink all season, they 'told me no'

The regular season is still a few weeks away, but we've already got our first Marshawn Lynch "not talking to the media" headline. McCain: Trump never apologized for saying I wasn't a war hero

President Donald Trump never apologized to John McCain for saying the senator is not a war hero. But the Arizona senator says in an interview airing tonight that while the two are “very different people,” he would never close the door to rapprochement.

“Sure. I'd be glad to converse with him,” McCain (R-Ariz.) told Lesley Stahl of “60 Minutes.” “But I also understand that we're very different people. Different upbringing. Different life experiences.”
