Funny how the same two guys always show up with nothing more than insults. Or are you guys afraid of being labeled Captain Rant. Come fucking on, explain your position like you have a brain.

Did you not read the part that says "give an inch take a mile"  ? the thing i just don't get is this, why, just why would ANYBODY want our government to put more of a tax on anything ? isn't everything already taxed now ? everything you buy, consume, use, eat, drink whatever was taxed when you bought it.Where does it stop ? if you can disagree with this taxation crap let's hear it.And as far as soda pop goes,i don't even drink it.Hopefully i've explained myself as if i have a brain Captain.

Tax the shit outta soda. Use the money to pay for Medicare. Tax gas. Tax the shit we want to reduce consumption of. Reduce income tax. Tax refined sugars. Tax disposable goods and use the revenue to pay for recycling/trash processing.

If you care enough, you'll make your own fucking soda and avoid the tax.

All makes sense. But ironically people will still buy , have less money , unless they can afford Costco.

And then start a recycling program? More money on a fire.

Of all the '60s sitcoms made into feature films in the '90s that's in my top five.

There's the disconnect from reality in TV shows from that era. Like, did you ever notice that even in 1960s military-themed sitcoms like Gomer Pyle, USMC they never mentioned Vietnam? You know damned good and well Mayberry, RFD was not integrated but that also was never mentioned. I could see Sheriff Andy Taylor cutting eyeholes into Aunt Bea's best white sheets just so he and that creepy barber Floyd could scare the shit out of some Freedom Riders. Don Rickles may have briefly stopped in to say "hi" but Nipsy Russell and Sammy Davis, Jr just kept on truckin' to Laugh-In where dazzling urbanites like themselves didn't have to worry about flaming lumber appearing on the astro turf after sundown.

Soda stream. I imagine the syrup will be what's taxed next. They will never let people walk around the toll booth without paying.

Since hybrids are becoming more than a novelty vehicle the amount of tax revenue has gone down on gas sales. So when people do the right thing to reduce what the gubment rails about as bad they lose money they planned to blow. So the next logical thing is to raise taxes for the rest buying gas and put a mileage tax on cars that don't use gas.

Win win.

I agree, you stated your position. Though my position was Mis-characterized. Tax items which tax society/populous. Soda is a massive contributor to diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and a list of other ailments that taxpayers end up fronting the bill for (long before Obamacare was in place by the way). Disposable goods cost our landfills (taxpayers). Etc.etc. all taxed goods justified as such. But reduce income tax by a fuck ton, and tax more goods to make up for it. Promote less stupid consumerism, and increase purchases that are not disposible / longer life expectancy, and you will see more US goods sold.

Wrong!, Stop blaming sugar for diabetes, if you stuff your face with sugar every day and don't exercise, guess what???

Stop demonization of products and go to the source of the problem, lazyness, it's ridiculous to blame sugar for what is clearly a lazy problem.

Actually diabetes is hereditary, too much glocuse or sugar, lack of exercise, not eating enough of the right foods that are filled with vitamins and the right nutrients can trigger it and one can become insulin resistant. I know because i have been for the last 3 years. Sure one can blame the food industry but what about personal responsibility and as a responsible parent you have control what you buy for your kids.
