Andres131313
I started when I was 6. My grandfather figured he might as well teach me what he knew before he died. I worked on Chevys, and did little things with kias, and Hondas. I learn quickly. Hey I can't get my temp gage to work. It will move a little but idk what is wrong. Quote Link to comment
dr.feltersnatch
Ground it at the sending unit and see what the gage does. That will tell you if its wiring/gage related or sending unit. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
most gauages the fuel and temp gauge will go thu a volt reg/temp comp can in back of the instrument cluster. if both fuel and temp are off that then its the volt reg in instrument cluster. one can clean the contacts at sender and at wire also. if one works then steer towards the side that is bad. not that the gauge its self is bad also. I have had no proplem with all my datsuns ecept my yellow car which was a early 69 and went to a later instrument panel and wire harness. notice it runs a hotter and runs out of gas while gauge still reads so I thinks its in there thats the issue. so I just fill up at 1/4 tank on that one Quote Link to comment
Andres131313
It's both. How do I take the panel off? There is a spade connector next to the coil that I can't figure out where it goes. I noticed it when I got the car. I've search and can't find where it goes. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Im not familiar with the later 510s(a10s) Datsunaholic I believe owned a few good to ask him Quote Link to comment
Andres131313
Anyone know where I can get a dat516 carb kit? I have been looking but it's almost like it doesn't exist. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You could try a similar year vehicle that had an L20B like a '78 620 truck, S10 200sx or your A10 (HL510) not to be confused with the earlier '68-'73 PL510. Quote Link to comment
Andres131313
I mean to rebuild the carb Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
And I meant if there isn't a kit for your A10 try the other vehicles. The carbs are basically the same Quote Link to comment
Andres131313
Does it matter is the egr is for an automatic transmission? Because I can't fine a manual one. Also the pipe that runs from the exhaust to the carb broke. I don't know what it's called or where to get one. Quote Link to comment

You don't need an EGR to be working just not leaking when it's turned off. The pipe from the exhaust to the air filter is the 'stove pipe' and moves warmed air. Not essential for running. Fix later. Andres131313
I have to get it smoged so I need everything working. If they think I did anything it will fail. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The pipe pictured above is the EGR tube and goes to the intake manifold, not the carb. The EGR can be tested by sucking on the rubber hose going to it. You will be able to feel the pin up inside it lift up with your finger. Quote Link to comment

datsunaholic
I don't know what that pipe is officially called (EGR tube, is what it is) but it's a dealer-only part if not NLA. Parts stores won't have it. You'll have to source it from a junkyard unless someone on here has one lying around. They're somewhat year specific, but I think any 78-79 L20B will be the same pipe. Andres131313
Dealer? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes dealer. Steven's Creek Nissan dealer http://www.stevenscreeknissan.com/dealership/directions.htm Quote Link to comment
Andres131313
"That part is no longer available" fuck. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Depends on the parts manager and how much he cares. You could ask them to contact other dealers and see if they have one gathering dust on a shelf out back and want to get it off their inventory. Wrecking yard then. Quote Link to comment
Andres131313
Engine parts are all gone. I'm just going to try and weld it or make a new one. Quote Link to comment
Andres131313
Where do I put the chain to hoist the engine out? I can't find one on the back. Quote Link to comment
