I find expensive ones wear out just as fast as cheap ones. The wearing out is so slow you never notice the change and your driving compensates as you go. Then one day it hits you that this isn't what you remember your truck used to drive like. If I could afford it, I would change them every year... two at the most. Shocks are, hands down, the most improvement to ride quality you can make to your vehicle.
