looking for trans resources

Hello all.

After looking a little closer at my trans, I've deemed it too far gone to be worth rebuilding. Cracked bell housing, the linkage is beyond shot, leaking from every seal and I think 4th has a chip as it's howling a bit.

I plenty happy sticking with the 4 speed, but I'm having a hell of a time finding one. I've found loads for the Z's but have struggled to find one for the trucks or even the 510 for that matter.

Are there any shops that carry our trannies? Rebuilt/remanufactured would be preferable. Any input would be fantastic.

Place an ad in the classifieds, there is a link at the top of every page. Many throw their 4 speeds away when swapping to a 5 speed. Probably get one for cheap. I assume this is a '70 or newer PL521??? with L16 engine??

The following vehicles have basically the same  speed in them.

'70-'72.... PL521

'68-'73.... 510 sedan* or wagon

'73.......... 620

'73-'77.... 710*

'78-'79 ... A10* (later HL510)

* slightly closer ratio but will work.

Yes and no. The bolt only works on the 521 4 speed all the others don't have the threads but the spline will slip in the ends of them. This leaves a hole that would normally be plugged by the nut. Get a 40mm engine block frost or casting plug and some sealer. Press it into the hole in the spline and away you go.
