muffler

Hi I have a 73 datsun 620 with an l16 ..what would be a good muffler to put on it? Magnaflow? Flowmaster? What type? Any help would be apreciated. . Thanks

$25 special. Other than that something with a sound that's agreeable to you. Loud is not power and wears thin after a while. Get something you can live with.

I replaced the muffler and exhaust system on Ratsun, a 521 with a 2" pipe, and muffler.

Used a Walker 17900 muffler.

I put on a cheap muffler on mine. not very noisy at all, I believe mine was a 19.95 special and it sounds OK. Went for the louder is better  stage when I was a lot younger and got several tickets because of it

I run a Flowmaster 40...1 3/4 pipe & a VW stinger..freakin love the tone.!

It's all about what you feel right about. I don't know what a flowmaster cost but to pay so much and get sick of the noise doesn't make sense. You probably have some money in a sound system also.... might as well be able to hear it.  Plus it doesn't release any 'hidden' power.  Turbo or glass-packed muffler? as long as they are not straight through will be almost reasonable maybe with a resonator to cut the braaapp sound.

Flowmaster do not buy.

any straight thru muffler with a Weber carb or stock carb is just a rosonance maker( sounds like a stock Honda with a can) I have a Dnomax super turbo and when cold is still loud. once warmed up its quieter)

I agree with the others, no need for the Flowmaster, Magnaflow, SLP, Corsa, Borla, or whatever other overpriced mufflers when Dynomax, Thrush, Cherry Bomb, etc does the same job for a lot less money. I used to own a Firebird Formula I drag raced. It killed me the idiots that paid way too much for their high dollar catback exhausts because they had more money than common sense. I bought a Dynomax glasspack and had the 3" piping custom mandrel bent, it sounded better and blew their doors off!

Wow lots of anti Flowmaster energy... :geek: Oh well mine was a gift from a friend who has since passed & it makes my slow ass 620 sound the way I like it.
