JDM 1/4 lights on USA plug

Recommended Posts

Now that I found a good home for the Honey Bee. I am putting all my time and energy to"Old Blue".

Here is the situation:

JDM bumpers are in and I am now installing the 1/4 lights (blinker lights).

Issue: JDM lights plug do not match the USA plug (see pictures).

So, Instead of reinventing the wheel, and start cutting wires. I would like to know if anyone has done the above conversion and have any feedback on pairing the wires.

I cut both ends, used the bullet type connectors.  The clear for running/marker lights and the yellow for turn signals.

Reverse the Ground plugs(male female) making them backwards . so you can not accidentally hook them up backwards, when or if you have to remove the bumper for some odd reason.

And also, this is probably just me being nit-picky, but the actual "JDM" lights are all amber. The half amber/half clear lights were used in Australia, Europe, and other Asian countries.

If you want actual JDM style, the USDM 1200 lights are the same.   ;)

Need help guys. Wiring is not my strong suit.

USA blinker light has only one bulb with two filaments.
One filament for when the lights are turn on, and the other for the blinker function.
Green wire is for filament that stays on when you turn the headlights on
Green/Red wire and black wire for the blinker function.

I cut the wires in order to connect the NEW 1/4 light (JDM “like”) with two regular bulbs (One filament on each bulb). One bulb in the clear (White) and the other on the amber.

With the logic mention above I wire the clear side (bulb) with the green wire and the amber side (bulb) with the green/red wire at the bottom of the base of the bulb and the black wire on the side of the base of the bulb.

The Clear light turns on when the headlights are on BUT the blinker light only turns on but does not go off (No Blink) when I activate the turn signal.

Don’t know what I am doing wrong.

BTW B210GX YES the classifieds section of the forum suck.

It has so much potencial but members just don’t use it enough and the right way.

BTW thanks for the clarification datsunfreak. I like the 1200 lights better.

Two main causes of this in my experience:

You don't have enough resistance in the circuit to make the flasher work (not enough bulbs).

The flasher has failed.

I would suggest trying a newer style "electronic" flasher that isn't load sensitive like the original style flasher?

Just for shits a giggles, remove your 4 way flasher and install it in place of your blinker flasher.

When I put my LED's in the back this worked for low resistance.  No one here in town had an electrnic one in stock
