DrRocks0
Hello everyone! Recently picked up a 68 510 with an SR20DET swap and other goodies. Currently I am pulling the motor to but bearings in the lower end. The previous owner really didn't know what he was doing and there was lots wrong with the car. After going through literally every nut and bolt the car is road worthy after the quick motor pull. Current mods are: SR20DET swap with BC stage 2 cams and HKS adjustable gears, no name exhaust manifold, front mount intercooler, 2.5 inch exhaust, adjustable wastegate, 255LPH fuel pump. TechnoToyTuning control arms, upper hat system, HKS coilovers front and rear, FotoFab rear camber/caster/toe kit. TechnoToyTuning torque rod arms coming soon. 280zx breaks up front, 280z rear... EDIT: I also forgot it has been converted over to non power steering rack and pinion too. That was a handy swap :) 3 Quote Link to comment

DrRocks0
Yep... Guy had it way too high. Trans let go 2 days after I bought it. Rear coil overseas almost fell off days after that. I decided then to go through everything and found every bolt on the suspension only hand tight. The intake can slipped on the adjustable can and was fully retarded, timing was way off and wastegate was falling off. Now its getting crank and rod bearings.... 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Sounds like it's in better hands. Good for you, and it. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yea I hope you got a good deal on it man, sounds like he sold you a pos I wouldn't of been very happy. Glad to see you improving on the car already. I've never seen it around Long Beach, are you anywhere near by? 1 Quote Link to comment

DrRocks0
I also forgot the rear end has been swapped with an R180 with a 3.54:1 from a subaru. No LSD sadly but at least with the 180 housing it won't be to hard to drop that in. Bullet Bill on both rear quarters The SR: Engine bay needs some serious love. Can't wait to get the motor healthy so I can start doing fun stuff to the car. smexy front end.. love the 68's and the interesting wheels that I am not sure I am going to keep. Quote Link to comment

tr8er
Welcome to the party. So far, you annoy me far less than the Dr. Rockso you've chosen to represent you. Unless you really are Dr. Rockso and the character you play on TV is just a character. Nice 510. It's pretty rare that one notices all the good things a PO did you the ride. I'm sure there was plenty of good to go with the bad on this car. I'm watching with serious interest/concern regarding the rims. Such a critical element. 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm sure there was plenty of good to go with the bad on this car. I'm watching with serious interest/concern regarding the rims. Such a critical element. Thanks for your concern on the rims. I need to swap them out because I need 15's to clear breaks later and hopefully wider to get more rubber on the road. Breaking loose in third gear at 60 is no fun. No Hellflush...yuck. The most I am willing to do is a slight fender roll to pull that inner lip in. There was lots of good, but also lots of really dangerous bad. Hell the steering column bolt that connects to the rack was loose. I'm glad I noticed it before it came out and the shaft free spun. I was thinking some 15x7 with 205's with the flat black ones of these Quote Link to comment
DrRocks0
What are the rims and specs? 14x6.5 no idea the offset though. I'll pull one off and see if its stamped on the inside. Probably 0 or something. I'll get the brand name too then. edit: the wheels are focus espirit and are 14x6.5 and I think 0 offset. They are in good condition with one scratch on the inside edge of 1 rim where I tried to have them balanced and the wheel weight got stuck on the rotor/caliper when I left the tire place. Hence why I need bigger wheels.... Quote Link to comment
