Check your state laws!!  I bet you 9 times out of 10 there is a law on the books in most states that determines how high or low your vehicle can be.  Its just up to the state to enforce it.  If this gets enforced then it will suck!!!

OOoo La La!! Those Frenchies!

Tell the truth I resent sharing the road with those POS. At some point it's too low to be safe and if the tire isn't close to flat on the pavement then it isn't doing it's job either. Some lowering is ok, not saying all lowering is. Just do it right.

Right, the general 'rule of thumb' when I was a kid was that no part of the vehicle (frame or body) can hit the ground if you have a flat tire, which seems pretty reasonable. I think that during my Fathers time, the rule was being able to run over the the top of a pack of cigarettes without knocking it over or something.

As a kid, I used to fuck shit up so bad that it was frightening, but the funny part, it was legal. Have the car all raked up in the back with fat tires, tiny little skinny tires in the front, caster so messed up it was actually negative, wheels toed out, stiff in the back, soft in the front, never adjust the alignment, they would dive all over the road, you even look funny at the steering wheel and it would turn so fast you would be in the other lane before you could even think.

To top it off, it even looked stupid.

Foot long shackles in the back, before that the front higher than the back for 'weight transfer'.  Dual exhaust tips 2 feet out behind the bumper. None of the cars then had seat belts but that was ok. Drum brakes that would barely (and I dooo mean barley) stop you from 70mph. (when new)

Tell you what...in a way, I think this garbage made me a pretty decent driver. I'm gonna throw out a "kids today" so hang on............................

KIDS TODAY, most of their cars actually stop and turn or at least have more than one wheel with a working brake (mine was usually a rear wheel). I knew my car would not stop for shit or turn for shit and even being a stupid ass, I still wanted to live, so I drove accordingly for the most part. Today, the kids will push their cars until they can no longer hold the road, which is usually upwards of 100 mph. A panic stop in one of my cars at 50 was just that...panic. I did drag race a lot, but it was a short distance, straight and I could normally see what was down the road 1/2 a mile or so.

Kinda in the same vein as crashing your car when the engine dies and saying the wheel "locked up". Now, I am in NO WAY defending GM...but shit man, the wheel didn't "lock" it's called having no power steering and if you would have driven more garbage in your life that just died at random, you would know that. None of these fuckers ever even ran out of gas before? Hell, I drove around in a pickup with no power steering belt for like 3 months because the pump went bad and I could not afford a new one. So, my wheel was "locked" everywhere I went.

I hate power steering. Too forgiving.

You know though, good on them for doing something about it. If it's really causing a problem then why not. Kinda like 4wds jacked up so that their fog lights blind the shit out of people in cars that have stock stance.

If you have a flat and any portion of the car hits the ground (besides the rim) you shouldn't be able to drive it. It's a danger to everyone around you.

I know that budget cuts in the Police department in San Diego has caused a lax enforcement of vehicle violation rules. I used to get tickets for loud exhaust and friends would get them for no mud flaps on their lifted trucks. All that has bone by the wayside recently.

I wish they would ban those fucking LED lights that idiots don't know how to install properly and go and blind half the world with them! It would be widespread panic if they made it the law to have a yearly lamp inspection.

All this time I was thinking that the lack of me getting ticketed for shit (like exhaust and tires out past the fender wells, etc) was because I was........old. A lot of my crap is a rolling violation these days, but I never seem to get hassled.

I completely agree with smokes point, I drove a scout with a big block manual drum brakes manual steering and 35"x14" tires, to high school. Stopping? Not gonna happen, driving straight? Not gonna happen. Hell I could get on the brakes hard in the right lane and end up in oncoming traffic if I wasnt hold onto the wheel for dear life. I know my limits and the limits of whatever I am driving mainly because of that big old piece of shit, it teaches you how to DRIVE not just how to operate a motor vehichle

A few years back, I drove up on an accident where a kid had ran into a school bus. It was not too bad, the bus had pulled out in front of him and he was not able to stop in time. So shit got a little banged up, but no one was hurt. I had showed up before the cops had even got there. This was a 'farm kid' and was driving an old beat up late 60s Ford 2wd pickup. In other words, he was probably not breaking the sound barrier. The cop showed up when I was still there and one of them was over measuring the skid mark. I say "mark" not "marks" because it was one tire. He then came to the brilliant conclusion that the kid must have been going close to 100 mph judging from the length of the mark.

I am really surprised I did not get myself arrested, because I belittled that theory until the guy wanted to hide. One of my points was that the single, one wheel (probably rear) of a 40 year old truck can't be just thrown into X length equals X speed. I mean, I'm pretty darn sure that a new bmw would PROBABLY have a shorter mark (if any marks at all) than an old ratty pickup with nothing in the bed and the worst he could really do here is nail for faulty equipment. Don't know what ever happened, I split after that.

I drove that truck once. When I was 17 and working my summer job in the machine shop. They had a old POS rig for a gopher vehicle. No power steering, all wheel drum stopping power. Had to attempt a quick stop in that rig and quickly understood it had no way to do so. Muscled the steering to the right pumped the breaks as best I could. I managed to make the ditch the best stopping space VS the ass end of the woman's car stopping to let the squirrels live. Even at 3-4 car lengths 35mph that truck needed 15 car lengths to stop safely lol.

It was a helluva railroad crossing jumper though. Surprised i never started a grass fire with as many sparks coming off that shit from hard landings ha ha ha.

Work eventually got a call from someone seeing me thrash the turd and I was banned from driving it :(

True, and we have also cut back on driving like idiots, and that helps.

All these vehicle violations cause they want idiots off the road...  I think we need to be more conservative with the driving privilege.  The driving test needs to be hard enough to reject people who cant drive.  This should include maneuvering in dangerous situation testing.  I think maybe 30% of the drivers out there should not be permitted to operate a vehicle on public roads.  But the number may be closer to 60%.  What do you think?  If we removed even just the worst 10% of the drivers on the road, imagine how much better/safer it would be.  Solving traffic could be that easy.  Just increase the difficulty of the driving test every year until the roads are traffic free, mass transit is fully utilized and expanded, and parents will be inspired to teach their kids how to really drive.  By default, this will reduce the amount of cars dragging their guts on the road.  There will still be plenty of cars that are lowered, but not stupid low.  It may even reduce the amount of spoilers, whether they be installed on the top bottom or inside of the car.

I expect some people will hate this post.  But the expectation that everyone can/should drive were developed when cars went 50mph tops, and if they crashed, they had nearly ten feet of steel in front of them.  These days, kids get a 250HP fiberglass driving machine with their license, and the manual barely tells you how to put fuel in it.  It is a system in need of fixing.  It is no mystery why so many are dying on the road these days.

Figures the fools at Faux News would call those HellaRetarded ricers "Lowrider cars."

THIS is a lowrider!

Nothing but class... might ride like shit, but meh, you look cool as hell in one, so who cares!

THIS IS "SWAG." Rides and handles like shit, and you look like a moron just standing within 5 feet of it. Driven by dumbasses who try to kill themselves after yelling YOLO! It is an unproven scientific theory that the closer you get to one, the lower your IQ becomes.
