hydraulic lifters in a W53 head?

I just found out that P90A L6 heads have hydraulic lifters. Since everything is interchangebal between L series engines, besides the obvious stuff, is it possible to use hydro lifters in an L4? I have read that the lifters wont tolerate high lift cams but I wonder if the stock L20b cam with hydro lifters would work.

Solid and hydraulic cams are ground differently on the base circle. You can use hyd cams with solid lifters, but not the other way around.

I've always ran my valve lash .001 tighter than spec on Datsuns to cut down on lifter noise. Never had any problems by doing so. Just that little bit makes a big difference on the noise. If your cam bearings are worn or misaligned from head warpage it helps to have a friend lightly pry up on the cam while adjusting lash to take up the slack in the bearings and compensate for the chain tension pulling down on the cam. If your engine is suffering from excessive valve train noise, give this trick a try.
