CicliDevotion
I recently came across these pics on eBay: From the looks of them, these are possible press or advertising photos...Where white steel wheels ever a stock option on 720s? Quote Link to comment
CicliDevotion
I've been on the fence about them...but the thought had crossed my mind (while I wait for my chrome/gold 2-piece "phone dials") to paint my stock wheels white. And then I saw this truck this weekend: Now I'm REALLY starting to weigh it as an option on my yellow '84... If I decide to rattle can, should I go with a semi-gloss? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
On a yellow one-they may look a little weird. Which color yellow? Bright or faded, lemon pudding yellow? Maybe a tan or creme? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Stock rims were steelies until Nov. '82. At that time there were wheel covers or a chrome beauty ring on the 2wd. There were optional factory mags but I don't have that info. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
The ST mags were hideous and ridiculously positive offset. Quote Link to comment
CicliDevotion
My truck is the soft, butter yellow... It's currently sitting on stock (silver) steel. I have a couple of beauty rings and center caps, but not enough to make a complete set. I was debating a little spruce up with new rings/caps and silver paint, but then the option of white started to strike a chord. In my initial post, I was wondering specifically if WHITE ever came stock. These are obviously aftermarket, but it gives an idea of what the color combo might look like: Quote Link to comment
bryant2482
wow those look damn good in white! Quote Link to comment
KELMO
My memory is a little foggy, but I seem to remember an 83 720 that my girlfriend (at that time) purchased new. The truck was white and I THINK the wheels were white also. I was a base model. Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
My butternut squash yellow 80 720 had badly stained white wheels on it when I bought it. Personally I hate white wheels! So I painted them black. Quote Link to comment
Gradyfest
Do it! I am looking for white steelies for my '80 720. Its a 4x4 and came with white steelies that had circles instead of the 2wd slits. Finding a set, let alone one with all four center caps, is another thing though... You can't beat the stock look of a classic! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
These may be stock steel rims for something but not, I think, for a 720. They look somewhat like the late 620 with slots in them. Quote Link to comment
67_1600
I really like the white steel wheels on the 4x4 but not as much on the 2-wheel drive. In the end though it's your truck - do what you like. 1 Quote Link to comment
