retrorigg
hi all im new here, ive recently purchased a 1983 910 (maxima) 1.8, im having major carb issues, its the nikki hitachi dch340 carb, when i go to rev the car its borking out, if i rev it manually by the second choke its fine, ive narrowed it down to the accelerator pump as i was barely getting a trickle when i worked the throttle, so ive fitted a new pump but the same thing happening....but if i disconnect the throttle mechanism and push the pump by hand im getting a nice jet of fuel, if i reconnect the throttle im back to a trickle, the pump is returning high enough to give it lift to pump fuel , im really stuck, any ideas please Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Nikki? Or Hitachi? What ya got? Quote Link to comment
retrorigg
Wel it's a nikki but pretty much same as hitachi dch 340. Think its same layout accelerator pump wise Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
A trickle is all that comes out of 1980s Hitachi. As long as it is a steady trickle its OK. If it starts and stops as you smoothly move the throttle that's bad. The Nikki needs a Nikki pump, the Hitachi pump is slightly different. Quote Link to comment
retrorigg
What's the differences in the pumps. They both look identical side by side. It's not a steady trickle it's kinda hit n miss tricklewise Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Difference is about 1/2 millimeter Quote Link to comment
retrorigg
Bore wise or height . Ya know under the little ball bearing that lays under the pump if I take this out is the jet underneath it removable and possibly blocked ??? Does the ball bearing stick or fail ? Quote Link to comment
