Screechbruh
I have a 76 Datsun 620 that is in need of a new steering wheel. When i bought it it came with some crappy after maket wheel that is loose ass sh*t now. The bolts wore off and the only thing holding it on is the center bolt. I was wondering if anyone upgraded and could help me out. I've found a Boss adapter on Ebay and also looked at a Momo hub that might work. I just don't want to purchase parts and have them not work. datzenmike
Placing an ad in our classifieds will likely shake a stock one loose. http://community.ratsun.net/classifieds/category/9-body-and-interior/?sort_key=date_added&sort_order=desc Ted (taadj) had several for sale at Canby recently. Pacific coast Datsun
You can still buy Grant hubs @ any auto parts store or online..those have the standard 5 hole pattern. A Nissan 720 ST hub will also fit..they have a 6 hole pattern & you can run the ST or a Nardi wheel. 3 Quote Link to comment
5t341tH
I got that boss hub as well and also bought a wood grain steering wheel made by morningwood. It's a nice mahogany color and fits perfect 1 Quote Link to comment
housew
I got a boss hub kit for my 510 with the dual 6 bolt patterns and bolted up a racemark i had for my porsche. I thought the fit was great, its good and tight. I dunno if the 620/510 use the same splines, but i have a stock wheel in pretty good condition i wouldn't mind parting with. Horn pad/cover/button included. 1 Quote Link to comment

housew
ill try to remember to take some tonight. its in my box of parts i probably won't put back on the car. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Instead of buying a hub and buying a wheel, you can go to pick n pull and get a stock 620 wheel. It comes with hub built in. Quote Link to comment
housew
yea, that would work too. the boss kit works for the 620 and the 510 so the splines would be the same. this is someone elses wheel, not mine, but this is the look. I would say mine is in similar condition, but i'd send you real pics if you thought you wanted it. these wheels come off super easy, push and turn horn button, remove nut in center (24ishmm IIRC) and mine literally popped right off. Some require a puller, i just tapped the back of the wheel with my hands and off it came. So yea, might not take you long in a junk yard if you found a wheel you wanted. 1 Quote Link to comment

I kinda want to install a smaller steering wheel. The original ones are nice and complete the original look, but they are a lot bigger. Quote Link to comment

I looked up a couple pick n pulls and none of them have parts or datsuns on the lot. Kinda sucks Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
So go to a different wrecking yard like the rest of us do. No big deal. Since you want a small wheel, buy an adapter. NAPA can order them. Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
Who wants an ugly stock steering wheel? Go get yourself a nice looking Grant or other aftermarket. Actually, F@#K Grant. Their support after a sale is non-existent. My expensive Grant BILLET adapter kit for $60 was missing a part to make the horn work. I called and got put on hold forever, emailed three times and never heard a goddamn thing. Now I have no horn. Quote Link to comment
Screechbruh
Yeah! thats most likely what I'm going to do. NRG is realeasing their hub adapter within a month so i think I'm just going to do that. if not ill just get the Momo hub and buy a momo or NRG wheel. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Wait on nrg ... and wait ... and wait ... Or drive it now after putting a $10 stock wheel on. The horn will even work. Quote Link to comment
Screechbruh
Thats very true. I might just get the Momo hub. Quote Link to comment
Screechbruh
This is the wheel it has right now. Quote Link to comment
housew
x2 on the smaller wheel. Thats why i swapped. Original is 15-5/16" or something huge like that. I stepped down to a 14 and it made it much better. My gut was getting i the way with the big wheel  Quote Link to comment
orangie
fyi, the 240z one fits as well. It's real wood. 1 Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
This is the wheel it has right now. That is an old school Grant. It would look a lot better with the horn button. Like this: Quote Link to comment
Screechbruh
I have it, but the horn part broke off so i just left it like that while the new hub comes in to replace the whole thing. Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
Smaller size is why I got rid of my old stock steering wheel, well that and it was coming apart around the horn area. I like the 13.5" size vs the big stocker. Gives me more legroom and since it doesn't stick out so far, my arms are not cramped. I got the Grant steering wheel for free off of an old Toyota my neighbor used as a parts truck, originally I had a cheap adapter and the ugly rubber spacer, I bought a billet adapter, looks much better. I love the way it looks, if I could just get the freaking horn to work! Quote Link to comment
housew
crown royal shifter boot? Stellar :) Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
I love my Crown Royal Black shift boot! Old stock vinyl one was ragged, so I saw that at a car show with a purple Crown Royal boot and decided to do it. How I did it is here: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/47004-my-80-datsun-720-nicknamed-the-shadow/ Quote Link to comment
housew
solid, i have a handle crown royal bag full of crown royal bags. I was going to make a pillow case out of them, but i could definitely donate one that cause. Quote Link to comment
