4perrev
Got into some side rocker panel yesterday and found some good old cancer in there. Got to cut it all out and replace the piece of the frame before wrapping a new sheet over it all. Man, that thing is ugly in there. Put a scribe right through the whole thing. Bought some new steel today to get in there and put the strength back into her side flanks!! Here's the carnage: Edited May 14, 2019 by 4perrev Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
You might as well drill out the spot welds that run vertically up the rocker directly behind the door seam and take off that last piece, otherwise you still have overlapped rusty metal. Same for the wheel arch lip. Quote Link to comment
4perrev
Looks good. I'll check it out for sure! Thanks. Quote Link to comment

4perrev
Heck yeah. Built this one for under 200 bucks. Super simple and works like a champ! Quote Link to comment

4perrev
Harbor freight, Skagit steel and a day to hook you up! Got rid of that cancer hole today. Fixed the support first with 14 gauge steel and then wrapped it all up to be stronger than before. Wasn't too bad to do, but still needs a little sanding to make her look all pretty. 4perrev
Oh almost forgot, put the other side of the rear end together also. Nice looking rear!! Edited May 14, 2019 by 4perrev Quote Link to comment
Plusnone
Love the build thread and the thorough prep work. Just wanted to let you know a strategy on the stickers. Get magnetic sheets with the adhesive side and put your stickers on that. You can rearrange, swap them out and not worry about looking "dated" do the full color paint and leave all the branding to magnetic stickers or custom vinyl on magnetic sheet. Just a thought. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055D7NO8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_DSb1ybHJ3X1J7 Quote Link to comment
4perrev
Plusnone...Thanks for the tip. I have thought about the wrap, but not the magnets. Not sure they would stay on at the lightning speeds I intend to gain with this little girl!! No seriously, I've always wanted to build a race car with all the graphics. I am going to make it look dated back to the 70's ish with no intention of ever changing it. I will keep the idea in mind for future builds though. Love this place.....cause there is always a fresh idea!!!!! Quote Link to comment
Plusnone
Yeah, never did anything huge but I've definitely had sticker/magnets on my doors that didn't budge going a touch over 100 mph. I think the bigger ones might do even better. If you go period correct then it will start dated, in the right way!!! Keep it up man, I'll be following!!! 1 Quote Link to comment

Noflers
Man, I need to look at the build threads that aren't in the build section more often. You're putting in good work on this thing. Keep it up! 1 Quote Link to comment

4perrev
Thanks fellas for the kuddos. All the good words make me want to do more everyday. Unfortunately, I'm a slave to the weather as I only have a 1 car garage with 2 cars worth of parts and 4 motorcycle packed in there. When the weather is nice, I virtually unload the lot just to get at my baby. One day.....We'll find a house with a huge shop so I can go to town and do whatever is needed. One dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!! Until then, we move on as we can. As long as the build continues, it's all good. Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
I used to have a "2" car garage that I packed two 620s and two bikes into. I miss the rent but am much happier with my current place. It was a hassle trying to work on anything in that garage Quote Link to comment
4perrev
Finished up the undercoat on the body today. Also replaced all the ball joints getting the front suspension ready to go in. Man those coilovers are beautiful! 1 Quote Link to comment
4perrev
Got down to putting in the front cross member. Bought new bolts cause the old ones were gone! Gave it a little safety wire to secure them in. Here's the front strut all put together and sitting pretty. Used the strut clamp just to keep it in place for now. heywier427
All looks good. Looks like you are missing the upper subframe washer. Any 1/8" flat stock (or better) will work, but... http://www.jbcoachwerks.com/shop/frame-washer Gotta support the vendors :) Also, the strut clamps are solid, and many people run them with out issue. And while your doing good work... http://www.autobodytoolmart.com//sem-rust-preventer-aero-wand-24-71120-p-42808.aspx?gclid=CjwKEAjwq5LHBRCN0YLf9-GyywYSJAAhOw6miKR9qYl4T3zYc7reMi_TbzgueYaifjt8J1SXySxVmxoCK2bw_wcB No need to let those inner weld beads start the fucking all over again! :) 1 Quote Link to comment
4perrev
Wier. Good looking out. I will have to fab those and put them in. I sometimes forget as it's been a while since I've seen it together. That's why the forum and you guys are awesome! 1 Quote Link to comment
4perrev
Ok, so I have all the strut and coilover business I need. New 280 ZX calipers, but I now need the brackets for the caliper to the strut assembly. I have tried to locate these parts everywhere and have had no luck. Does anybody know where I could source a pair or if somebody has em, I would gladly pay you for them! Help, please.....Obi Wan.......you are my only hope!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
The caliper bolts directly to the strut assembly, should be two ears at the bottom of the strut, no brackets needed. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Those two ears on the back side of the strut is where the caliper bolts. Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
^^^ that's what I said! I'm wondering if you don't have complete calipers. Can you take a pic of the calipers for us? Quote Link to comment
