I didn't want to go bigger on the valves, so I just port and polished it to make up for the valves. Going to un shroud the valves once I buy a burette to measure the head CC's. I will have some to work with as the engine will probably be 10.5:1 as it stands. Going to bring it down a touch and gain better air flow around those guys!!

That looks great! I need to do that as well.. A87 ports are so small!!! 

Thanks. Yeah, they are pretty small. The cannon is larger and will shrink down once they reach the head. This will add a little more velocity craving down. Mini turbo if you will and not room lost on an actual turbo.

Finally had a chance to get back to the dime this past weekend. Got back into the undercoating again. After two more days on it, I think that there is only one more wheel well to take care of and then I can repaint the bottom of the car with chassis saver like the 521. Man, that stuff is awesome and makes it look great. Also got down to do a little frame bracing on the front end. Fabbed up the cross brace and put here in.

Here's the drivers side front wheel well after the wire wheel treatment. Sucks to do, but I think I've taken off at least 5-10 pounds of crap. Not to mention, unearthed some rust holes along the way. Got go strong, gotta do it right!!

Ordered my goodies from T3 yesterday and they said that they had to build em up. Can't wait to get the toys. Rear coilovers, front ZX strut coilovers, bump stops and camber plates. Not sure of the ship date, but will post the pics when they show up. She's moving along!

The ol' Fedex guys showed up today with some goodies. The guys at T3 were very nice and packed everything well. Here's the toys:

Also finally cleaned off the bottom of the car from all the crazy tar undercoating. Gotta do some stick welds and finish the mounts for brake lines and exhaust hangers, then it will be on to a nice black bottom for the old girl!!

If you haven't already, be sure to remove the front swaybar/mounts and check for rust.  

 

The welded in factory bolt welds rust from the inside out.

 

Give a tap tap taparoo with a pointed body hammer.

Did some work today and did a little strengthening of the shock mount. Cause I'm doing the whole rear coiler mod, I figured  they looked a little weak. So, there was some welding to do! Turned out pretty good and now it's super strong.

I wonder how much it cost acid dip, I believe anywhere from $1k - $2k + primed included. I saw some acid dip process in YouTube it's worth every penny if you are on your 20s or 30s years old to keep your 510 for long time but if you are in your 50s or 60s years old why acid dip, only have 10-20 years to enjoy it. Most likely the family sells the car after you are gone. Truly Acid dip 100xtimes better than any blasting, cus blasting can't get into the tight compartments, edges, inside the frame rails, some bad rust are located inside where you can't see it from the outside that's when Acid Dip are the best.

If you can afford acid dip and you want your 510 done right with zero cancer plus easier to see spot metal that it's weak, cheese, thin everything. All you have to do it's cut and weld. Great job you doing man, I'm also learning things I need to do with my 510. So far I need a good miller welding machine like yours :)

Thanks for the great words fellas. The acid dip looks interesting, but I've already gone this far and fixed so much. I always use a scribe the poke at the metal and find bad spots. Found a whole lot of em and repaired as necessary. Amazing to me where you find the bad stuff. Places I never thought to be so bad. Well, moving on with her as I just ordered new front, rear bearings and seals! Might as well since I torn of the axle its for just that reason!

Finally received my chassis saver in the mail along with the new rear bearings. Punched em out, cleaned it all up and got some new black mustache bar and rear wheel arms. Next step is to paint the bottom of the car and clean up the rear differential. That thing is ugly and full of old a$$ grease. Not too sure that I want to break into it and change out al the seals and bearings, but I know I should. Might just run her that way she is and try and find an LSD in the mean time. Just so pricey these days.

What's up all. Been a while since I got back on here. Sh!t, I always say that when I post. Well, I've been busy trying to find a new job in this place, which is a pain in the a$$ to say the least. So.....on to the car. Got the axle, cross member and mustache bar completely painted and set back in the car. Here that is:

Replaced both rear bearings and seals. Got to use those new nuts I ordered a while ago. 152-210 Ft pounds definitely is no joke! Got that sucker in a vice and put the torque wrench on 180 with a large pipe in the end. Click, click and tang down the nuts for security. Don't think I'll ever have to be in there again and good! Not too bad to do, but the possibilities for injury if done wrong are high on the pain scale. Well worth it though. It also allowed me to remove the old drum brake assembly without cutting all that stuff off. 

 

While you're in there, got do the fun u-joint swaps. Those are always a good time on an afternoon. The passengers side had one cap that just fell out after I pulled the clip. Worn out for sure. All good to go now!

 

After spraying undercoating on the wheel well, I decided to put the driver's side rear back in along with the T3 goodies. Still have to torque it all down and grease the shafts.

Pulled out the 200SX rotors for a test fit along with the caliber brackets. All fits great! Just got them all hanging now drying the paint. Now it's time to move on to the front side. Plan is to get her back on all 4 tires so I can work the rest of the car and then I'll do the suspension setup completely later. She's getting there though!!

Painted out the last two wheel-wells and gave the engine bay a coat for good measure!! Might actually get the front suspension in before winter.

Yeah, just laid on the chassis saver first and then she gets two coats of 3m undercoat to keep it all pretty. Once I finish the bottom and get the front suspension in, I can start all the fun stuff!!

Well kiddies........I received all of the front steering ball joints and tie rod ends for the baby. Have to rebuild the whole thing and do her right. Wouldn't want it coming apart at speed! I will get pictures up here once I take em, was just too busy this afternoon. Also, still need to figure out a name for the baby, but it just hasn't come to me yet. All in due time.

 

So, I've decided to build my own header. Big undertaking, but I really want to do everything. It's all part of the learning curve.......straight up! More to follow.

Got a chance to get down and weld the coiler rings on the struts today. turned out good, so I painted them up along with all the steering knuckles.
