Scgreen620
Where do you guys buy your sound dampening material that's bang for your buck? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Roll on roofing tar also known as 'torch on'. Roofing companies throw away end pieces because they want to avoid joints. I got all mine for free and even a whole roll. Its dry (not at all sticky) rolls out and easily, about 3/16" thick and 36" wide, cuts very easily with tin snips to odd shapes, can be heated to soften with a propane torch and pushed into dips and corners and even joined together. One side has a plastic skin on it. Did both my 710 floors with it including under the back seat. Fuck that overpriced crap with the foil on it. 1 Quote Link to comment
67_1600
Home depot I'm not sure which product you used, but this is the stuff I used from Home Depot. It doesn't have an odor like a lot of the other roofing products. According to their website, it's $16.45 a roll. 2 Quote Link to comment

MantisX620
Would you guys recommend just putting the U seal down and carpet over it, or U.Seal, Jute padding, and then carpet? Quote Link to comment
67_1600
Would you guys recommend just putting the U seal down and carpet over it, or U.Seal, Jute padding, and then carpet? Padding will deaden/muffle things even more - I'd use it if you can. 1 Quote Link to comment

I've heard the jute they use on houses is better than the one for cars check it out I might be wrong ... Quote Link to comment
MantisX620
I picked up some Jute from home depot that they use on home carpet. Will let you guys know how my cab noise is once everything is back together. For carpet, I got it out of a 94 S-10 in the junkyard. Damn near direct fit. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
We had this conversation before... speak English when insulting people or they might not get mad. Dynamat is over priced roll on roofing with aluminum foil on the back. You can get the same results for free. 5 Quote Link to comment
Son_of_a_Datsun_Guy
I'm doing a combination of heat treating similar materials to Datzenmike and then I'm using carpet padding/jute. I got my jute from miamicorp.com. Its pretty cheap and is working well so far. Quote Link to comment

wayno
The Home Depot shit works fine, I used it in the doors on the 521 kingcab, made a big difference, and it was only $17.00 a roll, it sticks to everything, even stuff you don't want it to stick to, been there for a couple years now, I only used half the roll. :) It's kinda hard to understand the new guy, it's easier to ignore him than to try and read his reply. 1 Quote Link to comment
