datzenmike Posted November 3, 2016 Report Share Posted November 3, 2016 The White/Red stripe is the power from the alternator wire and is factory and large enough. The alternator is grounded through the mounting bolts but Nissan does have a ground wire to be sure. Probably that black taped one? It can be grounded to the engine. Looks like a stock external alternator. Your '76 should have ths. The regulator is a metal box about the size of your fist mounted on the pass side inner fender. That's it right above the battery...
