datsunfreak
harder to find, weaker... Yeah, 'cause they break all the time... Quote Link to comment
q-tip
68's yes, 69's not all and depends on manufacture month of `69. I have a `69 built July of `69 and it has the 14mm. Very true. I would lean toward someone changing the knuckles somewhere in this dimes life. Quote Link to comment
jeph
if i had the machine shop at my work bore the hole out to fit my ball joints would that work out or is that not safe? Quote Link to comment
q-tip
The knuckles have a taper to match the ball joint, just drilling would be very much unsafe. 1 Quote Link to comment
jeph
The knuckles have a taper to match the ball joint, just drilling would be very much unsafe. i meant with the proper taper and everything just bigger size, i remember reading somewhere on the 4x4 forums that they sell tapered drill bits that people have used on their knuckles to fit the bigger ball joint. q-tip
The taper on a ball joint or a tie rod end are not a standard taper, and I believe that Nissans was pretty much proprietary. I would have to measure one to be sure. It would be much easier to just find a pair of the bigger knuckles than go thru the trouble of getting a reamer and setting the knuckle at the proper angle. jeph
finally found the right bit, a buddy had one it was like 50$ or more so i was glad he let me use it, worked perfect only took 2 minutes. Good to go. also ran the fuel lines today, people with fuel injection, on the stock 510 hard lines is the bigger one the main line and the smaller one the return? Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
on the stock 510 hard lines is the bigger one the main line and the smaller one the return? The factory used the big line for the return and the small line for the feed. 1 Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
You need at least 5/16" lines. 1 Quote Link to comment
