aangel jovanni
has anybody done a 5mge (82-86.5 toyota supra) engine swap in a 85 nissan 720? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Crap motor is too long. Quote Link to comment
Rjawm
I gotta know, are you 16 or 17 years old? Has to be one of the two. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Only reason for asking is that you have one sitting around in the garage and maybe the Z24 is getting tired. Better to get another Z series for it and best if you swap in a KA24E or DE. About 50% more power, EFI, well documented swap, lots of after market support, lots of spare motors in the wrecking yards and it's a Nissan motor. No inline six is going to fit well in the space made for a 4 cylinder. The KA will be able to use your existing transmission so that saves a bunch of figuring out. 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
It's not hate. The 5M suck. So does the 6 and 7. If you said 2J we would have just said too long. KA produces more power than any of the Ms. And damn near bolts in. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
5MGE will fit in the 720 pickup. Do it, you'll be the first. 5M-GE factory 175 HP - more than KA24DE 7M-GET 232 HP factory Plus smoother and better sounding than the KA Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Ah the wise old age of 20.... So listen "brah" ka is your cheapest easiest best bet in this one, but if you want the 5m go for it, don't worry what the trolls think, trolls will troll..... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Drops right in with a blue tipped wrench. 1 Quote Link to comment
Rhapakatui
My good buddy Victor can make anything fit anywhere! I haven't heard of anyone doing a 5m swap, but there was a guy who came on here a while back talking about an L28 swap in a 620. He caught the same slack. They said it wouldn't fit and he was just going to ruin his truck and then give up and scrap it. Meanwhile, he didn't notice because he was getting to work. He had it in there and running in about the same amount of time it would've taken to source a good KA. The nay sayers and Trolls gave him much respect afterwards. Sometimes, it's just a matter of want to. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/26947-project-620z/ Quote Link to comment
d510addict
I never understood the whole chopping up the car to fit an inline 6 in. Why not a turbo KA? Make way more power and no fab work needed. Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Not saying I'd put one in a Nissan PU but they can be cool looking Quote Link to comment
Driftease
Maybe he doesn't like the sound of a four, just cause an engine is capable of making power doesn't make it the only solution. I personally hate the fact that i am keeping the ka in my truck it just plain sounds terrible and is not the smooth torque i like from a inline 6, I'm just glad that I don't have to hear about yet another chevy swap. If you are a skilled fabricator do it, do something different, if not a bolt on swap may be more fitting. anything to be rid of the sound and vibration of a four is good by me! Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
WHY? You want to put a Toyota TuRD in something, get a Toyota. Keep your Nissan a Nissan. So far as swaps go, I would love to do a SR20DET in mine, but don't have the money... Quote Link to comment
