john510
Ive got a roadster 5 speed A series transmission in my 510.It shifts through all the gears just fine. There are no grinding, clunking or whining noises. Its now all of a sudden jumping/popping out of 5th gear under hard acceleration. If i just cruise in 5th its fine but as soon as i hit the throttle hard it pops out of gear.Any ideas what might be wrong ? datsunrides
Probably the nuts on the output shaft backing off. Pretty common problem for the Roadster 5 speed. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
This was also a problem on the early 71B 5 speeds. The later ones are staked in place.. Quote Link to comment
john510
Thanks,im assuming these arent accesible unless the trans is taken apart ? the only thing that scares me about my car is taking a transmission apart without a manual. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Is it an original roadster 5-speed? 71A transmission model? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Ive got a roadster 5 speed A series transmission in my 510.I Should be the one in the foreground. 71B behind. The tail removal should be similar to the early 240Z 4 speed as well as the older Roadster. Quote Link to comment
john510
Is it an original roadster 5-speed? 71A transmission model? Yes it is,monkey motion shift linkage with a L-series bell housing.I think it has a close ratio gear set. Quote Link to comment
