zees79
I recently changed the master and slave cylinders in my 79 620. Can't seem to get pressure back. Also for lack of a technical term the part the sticks out off the trannny that pushes the slave cylinder pin does not move anymore...I need help...please Quote Link to comment
wayno
Did you bench bleed the master before installing it? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Actually it's the slave push rod that pushes the clutch arm on the transmission. Bleed the system by filling the reservoir on the clutch master and keeping it full. Pump the clutch several times and hold down. Loosen the bleeder on the slave and let the fluid and or air out. Close bleeder and lift clutch pedal. Press clutch pedal down and hold. Open bleeder and drain air bubbles. Repeat until just clear fluid comes out. Keep master filled Do not raise pedal when the bleeder is open. Usually 2-4 bleeding cycles will bleed it thoroughly. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
But first ... check that the master cylinder pushrod is adjusted per the repair manual specs. Too long and it will never pump up NEXT When replacing the master cylinder, bleed it before attaching to car. 1. Insert clean vinyl hose into Outlet. 2. Loop the hose back into the reservoir 3. Top up reservoir with new brake fluid of recommended type 4. Work pushrod back and forth until air bubbles cease to appear in reservoir If an installed master cylinder runs dry (or was installed dry), bleed it as follows BEFORE bleeding slave cylinder. 1. Top up reservoir with new brake fluid of recommended type 2. Have assistant pump pedal three times, then hold pressure 3. Crack the fitting slightly for outlet of master cylinder until fluid comes out 4. Tighten fitting 5. Repeat steps until only fluid comes out, and no air spurts out with the fluid. If necessary, top up reservoir with new fluid. DO NOT REUSE BRAKE FLUID. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
I would post in the Drivetrain section to avoid electricity. (humor) Quote Link to comment
