datzenmike
Does the engine temp and oil pressure light also quit? Does the fuse blow when the gas pedal is floored? Is it an automatic by any chance???? Quote Link to comment
Datsun510Boy
fuse does blow when gas is floored ! no its a manual . temp light and oil still works Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Well if the temperature gauge is still working it unrelated to the blowing fuse. If you turn the ignition key to ON and the oil light comes on then the fuse for the turn signals can't be blown. Which fuse blows in the fuse box??? Quote Link to comment
Datsun510Boy
3rd fuse from the top on the left side keeps blowing . Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Is there a switch where the throttle linkage meets the carburetor? Quote Link to comment
EastBay521
same shit was happening on my truck. last week i changed the flasher i went to the parts store the gave me a cheap little 12v buss flasher it worked fine for about a week then 2 days ago it wouldnt hold a fuse for more than an hour. so yesterday i took a look at the original flasher it said 12.8v. with the new 12v flasher i put my DVM to the fuse while the flasher was going and i was getting spikes in voltage so i switched it with the original hazard flasher wich also says 12.8v and it hasnt blown a fuse since but its only been a day so far well so if it holds up Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Is it the wrong amp fuse? Quote Link to comment
EastBay521
no its a 10amp fuse. my fuse box still has the sticker under the cover that tells you wich fuse goes where Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
My info shows a 20 amp fuse for the flasher on ALL 510 fuse boxes. There are only three 10 amp fuses... one each for L&R headlights and one for the wiper on all '70 and newer cars. The '68 box is rectangular with only 6 fuses. Separate wires just plug into spade connectors on both sides of the fuses The '69 fuse box was the first 'square' box and has 6" leads with plugs on the end that the harness plugs into. The '69 and up boxes have 8 fuses. The '70 and up fuse box should have plugs built into the case and the harness plugs into them directly. In all cases the wiper fuse should be 20 amp. Find out for sure. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
See, this is Datsun510boy's thread and we're talking about his problem. Getting confusing. I was answering his statement that it's the third fuse from the top. All 510 boxes have 20 amp fuses in this location. Quote Link to comment
Datsun510Boy
yes i have 20 fuse in there . taillight and signals don't work but headlight come on Quote Link to comment
Datsun510Boy
idk if theres a switch but i haven't changed anything but put a new fuse and i blew soon as i hit the gas Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Headlights are on two other fuses. Try a new fuse. Turn key to on but don't start. Place in gear clutch pedal up. Step on gas 1/2 way... does it blow? If no, step all the way down... did it blow? Quote Link to comment
izzo
that is some weird shit lol. does this have one of those weird controls on the throttle linkage under the hood? kind of a rectangle thing with I think 4 wires on it? Quote Link to comment
Dawa
sounds like a ground to me. run the full length of the wires to determine it is not so Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Do you mean inspect the wires? Full length of which wires? sounds like a ground to me. run the full length of the wires to determine it is not so Quote Link to comment

IF it has the carb switch (emissions? dual points?) it's on the same circuit and could explain why it blows when floored. Quote Link to comment
